What size is the radiator coolant hose you replaced? I read that there is 2 different sizes to watch for 5/16 & 5/8 ? My question is when replacing the hoses can you put the wrong size are is it noticable if you need a bigger or smaller hose?

im curious ? it seems the oem radiator comes with all the foam panels at the top and bottom of the radiator ? the new radiator replacement i have ordered is basically identical but doesnt have the foam strips like the origional. what i am wondering is ? will it affect the cars performance in any way installing a new radiator without those foam strips ? or do they have a vital function in the radiators over all performance ? i would like to do the replacement job properly once and not have to take it out a second time to make adjustments later on if it can be helped , so if anybody here can offer honest advice it would be greatly appreciated 😉 thanks in advance yeah

Very good video, very thorough. I appreciate the suggestion of rotating the clamps to line up previous wear grooves. Kudos!

Good video. You didn't replace the upper and lower Radiator Air Seal, the upper is Subaru # 45167AE000. The seal probably keeps more air flowing through the radiator vs over or under. I just replaced the radiator and after the fact realized I should have bought the OEM seals or picked up some weather strip. Your video was helpful. The longest step of the job is waiting for the thermostat to open to burb the system.

This is super helpful. Thank you. But what about the foam strip across the top of the old radiator? I didn't see one on my new radiator.

Thanks for the video. What year car is that?

ShorelineThomas says:

Thanks for the clear instructions! It's basically the same for my 08 Impreza. Questions: about how much ATF must I add to replace the amount lost? And should I add it before or after I run the engine to burp the coolant system? Many thanks-
