If the pipe isn’t really rusty and is in pretty decent shape you might be
able to move it back into place. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393

1A Auto Parts says:

It’s an exhaust pipe gasket. You local auto parts store of the dealer
should have one for you.

Matt Meurer says:

stock subaru nuts are 14mm but i think 9/16 is real close in size.

ijosef says:

It looked like someone had used high temp RTV silicone gasket maker in
place of a metal gasket originally.

menakom law says:

do this work for 2001 subaru forester, too. or will need different pipe and
muffler.

Noreen Kenney says:

It’s so annoying to think that I am about to part with nearly $300. to have
this very thing done at a local pep boys, simply because I don’t have the
means to get my car onto a lift or ramps. The part only costs about $90.
Ugh!

YAAUFA says:

Would of helped to hear it before and after the installation.

iRHAPEzombiies says:

Looks easy, thanks mate.

Z3CHYD says:

I used to use WD40 until I started using PB Blaster, thats some great stuff!

bob bob says:

@Filmaker25 saamme!!!

1A Auto Parts says:

The PB Blaster penetrating oil worls fairly well.

chrislesbian says:

Great inspiration, M. Trovato – I always find getting the bolts, etc. out
the HARDEST part… plus needing a tool that can reach in some places.
That’s what stops me … I’m an another supposedly not

TommyChevyBugle says:

good job mate

1A Auto Parts says:

Yes because it helps to seal the pipe together and guard against any
leakes.

Filmaker25 says:

This is good , but I can’t find for the life of me where the exhaust noise
is coming from on my car LOL

bmwm333e92 says:

what was the oil that you spray? i am tring to remove my muffler and the
nuts are very tight.

tbskirk says:

Great job ! I have to do the same thing to my 96 Nissan Maxima

Madama Trovato says:

I just replaced my exhaust pipe and muffler on my 99 Outback by myself. I
backed onto ramps and blocked the front tires. The hardest part was
removing the old bolts, which took a few hours over two days. Once that was
done, the installation was quite easy. Truly, I wouldn’t have had the
confidence to try this repair myself without seeing this video. I saved
quite a bit of money and I feel like a bit of a badass (being female &
supposedly not gender-attuned to mechanical repairs.) Thanks!

You’re welcome. Have a great day. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393

HeyItsMeYaisa says:

What is that type of gasket called? I have a 96 accord which has the same
type of gasket but I cannot find it anywhere. 🙁

1A Auto Parts says:

You could use some of the techniques shown in this video and apply them to
your 2001 Forester.

roh69175 says:

hey friend… nice vid. Great effort. However i have a question. If i want
to have a nice bassy sound from my exhaust… do i have to replace the
entire exhaust system or i can simply change the muffler to an aftermarket
one.???

spelunkerd says:

Nice job, Mike. Say, what kind of vehicle lift is that? Do you have any
thoughts about the best lift for auto repair? I would love to do auto
repairs standing up, ha ha.

JTF360Superstar says:

is the gasket a essential?

flipwiggins says:

You said “penetrating oil”…..uuhuhhhuuuhuhuhuh!!!!!

EvolutionSev says:

Good video for noobs, but this is pretty easy stuff. 🙂

1A Auto Parts says:

your driveway.
