95 Subaru legacy fuel pump replacement

95 Subaru legacy fuel pump replacement

Pretty easy job here. I think it’s the same steps for legacys from 1995-1998.

any CEL?

fightingfalconfan says:

what exactly is happening? if it goes to 1k and then dies you have a vacuum leak…I am a tech and drive a 95 legacy l wagon.

Jamie mello says:

I just looked in the back of my 1996 subaru legacy outback wagon and it looks like the covers are the on the on edge of the right side and one on the edge of the left side.

Brian Scott says:

Hey, thanks for the video. How did you access the fuel pump in the Legacy station wagon? That’s what I have and it’s not a s simple as pulling back the carpet. There is a hard flooring piece covering it and I don’t want to screw it up.

Rhys Jnr Hans says:

cheers for the vid mate
my 1996 subaru sportswagon (pretty much an impreza hatch) is having problems. the other day i was driving down a hill with the car in neutral when i lost brake pressure and power steering, realized the engine stalled so i hill started it and kept going fine..
yesterday i was driving on a straight road when i started losing all revs and power going to the engine, gave me the feeling i was out of fuel but i still had 3/4 of a tank. i tried to start the engine but the start

Jamie mello says:

No prob I am glade I was able to help you 🙂

cavilover says:

Omg u just gave me faith. Thought id have to drop the tank too, thanks for the vid man!

Jamie mello says:

I changed it

MrFlood5 says:

maybe, so you never actually changed the pump

Jamie mello says:

Maybe the computer is your problem

MrFlood5 says:

ok i drive a 95 legacy, when i start it the rpms get to about 1 andthen my car dies i cant give it gas or nothing. Any ideas?

elkzadorjp says:

thanks for your help man. your video really helped me change the fuel pump on my 93 subaru impreza. thanks!!! 😀

em99sport says:

I kept waiting for this dude to eat his leftover tater tots.

aKiwiJoKeR says:

Just the pump in my BG/BK search on ClubSUB.org.nz for walbro by user JoKer

Jamie mello says:

I never changed just the pump.

Kristen Kubina says:

Hi there, thanks for posting this video, I am wondering if you ever replaced the actual pump and not just the assembly? I am trying to just swap the bad pump for a replacement new Bosch which is supposed to fit but doesn’t, wondering if I am doing something wrong!

Jan Sipprell says:

There’s a way all right !!!! I changed a alternator in an old Suburban one time. Took me all day. Would’ve taken anyone else an hour or so. Saved my self a bundle. Checked the pump out on the Suby by taking the hoses off of the filter first. No fuel coming in, so I got the pump and am starting to work on it right now.
Thank you again !!!!!!

Jamie mello says:

I try and do all my work myself. So far the biggest job I did by myself was changing the transmission on my old truck where there is a will there is likely a way

Jan Sipprell says:

WOW I cannot even thank you enough. I hate taking my car to fix it shops. I try if possible to fix things myself. Sometimes being stubborn DOES pay off !!! Then again I wish sometimes I wasn’t so stubborn !! THANK YOU thank you thank you…… and I’m off to replace the fuel pump !

Jamie mello says:

That’s were I got this fuel pump from

LBKJUGGALO17 says:

Very good video man.THANKS!

Jamie mello says:

I sold this car about 6 months ago when the transmission started going out to some guy out of state so I don’t know anything about it now…I think the junk yard legacy had like 210k? it was high.In my book I think it’s worth putting in a used pump if you can get to it easy like this one. If you got to drop the gas tank just buy a new one.

Jamie mello says:

I think the 3rd hose is a 3rd return line. But I am not 100% sure

RIP Stunner says:

I just did a 94 Impreza, it was the same!

ShoeManShoe68 says:

Awesome video! thanks for sharing!

MrLunithy says:

Thanks 79Datson :).

ubermensch81 says:

thanks a bunch…

Jamie mello says:

I would rate this job as a 2 or 3 at the most. It should be the same steps for 95-99 legacys. If you run into any problems feel free to send me a message.

ubermensch81 says:

quick question … i need to replace a fuel pump on a ’98 subaru legacy … is it basically the same set up as this ’95 vid … and if you were to rate this repair between a 1 and 10 in terms of difficulty 1 being the easiest , 10 being the most difficult , what would you rate it … thanks for uploading .. thumbs up and subscribed …

Jamie mello says:

I am glade I could help you out. That’s why the video’s up here.

PIGpatrol007 says:

Hey 79Datson…great video man!! My friend’s son’s car broke down and he asked me to help fix it. I knew it was the fuel pump due to the symptoms but never changed one before. The car is also a 95 Legacy L. I thought of Youtube, jumped on and jackpot!! your vide to the fucking rescue!! Thanks again man. It is people like you that keep the redneck tool boxes across America in action!!

Jamie mello says:

The reason why i changed the pump now was I did not not want it to break down. And maybe be stuck somewhere

Fred924 says:

My Celebrity sometimes cranks for a while. The pump is also kinda noisy too you can hear it whine when the car runs. I think sometimes my fuel pump doesn’t hold pressure, I’ll keep it in the car until the pump dies completely.

Jamie mello says:

yea it sure looked like it

BeltDrivenMadness says:

Was there really dry blood on the knife?
