$15 DIY Windshield Chip Repair (2016 Subaru WRX)

$15 DIY Windshield Chip Repair (2016 Subaru WRX)

I got a rock chip / crack in my windshield this week, and instead of paying $55 to get it fixed, I found a DIY kit for $15 that worked seemingly great!! I’m now on Day # 2 and the chip has *not* cracked/ split in all directions!!

Could you post a link where you got this?

This just happened to me on Saturday. Had my '16 wrx sport for a week. Took it to speedy glass to fill the chip and cracked even more. Replacing the whole windshield today since the cold cracked the window further. Suck!!!!

I did auto glass for 10 years, I own a hawkeye and id like to say DONT use these kits…. Over time they tend to yellow and once you attempt to repair glass you cant do it again. They dont provide enough vacuum and the resins are quite worthless. Most insurance companies will cover the cost of a repair for free and will not affect your premiums or your risk rate. while it MAY work for a little while……..it isnt worth taking the chance. Good how-to btw.

my insurance company will come to my garage for free with no deductible or raise in my rate.. worth asking first.

Do you know if the kit is for one time deal or multiple chips

Excellent vid man. Thankfully I still don't have any chips on my windshield yet. If it does happen I'll def try this out. Looks like it turned out well.

Same thing happened to my 2016 WRX a week after driving it off the lot. I used the $10 Rain-X Kit which is the same concept, but at the end when you take the clear plastic sheet off you should wait for the remaining resin to dry. Then take your razor and shave off the remaining resin instead of wiping it off. Wiping it off will only leave a concavity and a thin layer of resin on your windshield.
