There’s got to be an easier way! lol
All that work just for a boost gauge fk havi g second thoughts now lol
Almost bought a gauge setup…now I don’t want to do it :|
im installing this exact gauge on my 2013 wrx. how did you route the hose
through the firewall? seems like there isnt a way for it to go through. Any
help would be greatly appreciated
Good vid. I’m looking to get this for my ’14. Also I would like to hear my
bpv/external waste gate a lil better but don’t want to do a cai/short ram
because it requires tuning, I know the dealer will void me out if I tune,
I’m just looking for sound. What do you think about removing the silencer
in the stock airbox??
Thanks for the video, it helped me to do my install.
omfg screw that…glad i have an 06
Eh I did the pod on the clock way easier.. And I dont care about dimmer I
dont use em pointless
can you elaborate please on the instructions for removing the clock / mpg
display pod, please? In the video you seems to do it so easily but ive
tried repeatedly and I can get it to come out. more detail would be
appreciated. Thank You
@toohotcp Completely understandable! =) I definitely would recommend being
100% confident in the installations before trying a hand at them. I have
years of experience so when it comes down to game time I’m definitely not
sweating it.
@BlueAngelWRX As soon as its done I will post some pics up or a vid ..
Right now its apart doing some work wednesday.. Valve cover gaskets,
sparkplugs, etc
@BlueAngelWRX I have the 2011 WRX and in my accessories guide it says March
for the SPT boost gauge.
Is teeing into the bov the recommended source for boost/vacuum? In turbo
mitsu’s that source is highly frowned upon. I was only wondering since I
was thinking of getting this gauge for my 2010 wrx. (Tons of experience
w/4g63, little experience with subaru’s)
How is the spt gauge i heard they are very unaccrurate ?
great vid… be warned this spt gauge has been having “light flickering”
problems and then shuts off all together… Mine just did it the other day
and now doesn’t light up at all… the gauge still works and shows boost as
its a vacuum gauge and not electronic.. but it doesn’t light up anymore..
hopefully covered under the parts warranty …
why did you take off the top mount? you can easily get to everything with
out
Also, why did you have to connect the SPT pigtails to the clock?
You won’t have any issues what-so-ever teeing in to the source for the
BOV.. You can tap the wastegate line, if you want.. but it’s a lot less
trouble to route it through the BOV. Just as accurate and just as useful.
It is a pain. Took me 2 1/2 hours few nights ago, but it looks great.
@Thunderstryk it works for me…
thanks for the vid, u made me change my mind about getting a boost gauge!
too much work , i ll keep using my accessport as a boost gauge!
so many easier ways to do it then take apart everything
I decided not to get the SPT boost gauge. To keep my warranty intact I
called subaru and they wanted to charge me 230.00 for the gauge but what
caused me to walk away is the 365 dollars just for labor.. 600 dollars?
fuck that.
@BlueAngelWRX I’m tempted to do it but I’m to chicken shit to attempt it on
my own. I’m trying to talk one of my subbie buddies to help me out lol. if
all goes well I’ll get. Your’s came out really good. Nice work man.
@BlueAngelWRX thanks for the advice, finally got it installed. ended up
running a hanger from inside the car into the engine bay. It helped that
the sun was shining through the hole.
How thats Turbo XS recirculating BOV? any leaks?
thanks for the video! was thinking about gettin one and doin it myself
but….. now im thinkin a lil differently lol
you could have routed the vacuum line into the fender and threw the grommet
in the fender well. that part only requires removing the tire, popping back
the side skirt, and pulling down the fender liner. thats how i hooked up my
gauge to my 09wrx. you took the hardest way to do it lol
yeeaa…. that doent look complicated at all…. -_- /sarcasm
yeah.. screw that. i’m not installing gauges on my ’11 wrx anytime soon
now.
You know you don’t need to take off any of the dash trim to get your radio
out. Just that piece that surrounds the radio and vents
@ElevateC4 im just sayin…it does work for me. But i didnt install it. I
took it to a custom car shop. I dont have any tools so i cant install
anything i buy. Im buying tein coilovers. I cant install those cause i have
no tools. But for me it works.
