Shawn Villalpando says:

There’s no need to disconnect the starter on the Saturn.

Shawn Villalpando says:

It’s essentially the same except for clutch removal and shifter cables. The manual is much easier because it is smaller and lighter.

TheRedbikemaster says:

How much does the manual differ in removal procedure? I’m going to be reinforcing my diff pin this summer.

Shawn, Have you ever replace a 2003 vue automation with a manual transmission? I’m thinking of doing that because the auto tranny just died second time,, again. The want $4,000 to put in a rebuilt. I think a manual would be so much better. Its still a great vue except for the f’en tranny.

Dude13450 says:

did these use hydraulic or cable clutches?

Shawn Villalpando says:

Correct..only the drivers side. If you remove the pass side you’ll need to support the engine better.

DoThePuyallup says:

Thanks for the video. Very helpful!
You only needed to remove the subframe cradle bolts on the drivers to get it to hang like that?
You didn’t have to loosen passenger side?

Shawn Villalpando says:

Yes. I can remove and replace a manual in 3 hours, whereas, the auto takes about 5. The manual is much smaller and lighter, too..

John Deer says:

is manual more easy to remove ?

@theonlyshawn Great vids man. question i have a 98 saturn sl1 and recently had a tranny put in, but after they did the work i get a rattle when i go up a bump tht wasnt there before. almost sounds like the battery tray but when i shake it its very secure. Could the frame be loose? if so wht size socket do u need to tightn the bolts under the frame? Thanks much.
