I’ve got a 2002 Saturn SC1. Horn keeps going off on its own. I have to take the fuse out for the night. What could the problem be? I’ve tried all the basics.
RichPin, Where can I find replacement horn buttons? I have searched the internet but haven’t been able to find any. Any advice.
Oh and thanks so much for the videos they are very helpful!
I have a 1999 Saturn sl1 and my horn goes off continuously when the keys are off. When I turn the keys on the horn will do nothing, I already replaced the horn and the buttons from the junkyard. Would you happen to know what could be wrong? Thank you
Hello I have a Mazda 626 LX 1998 and my horn is working but when put the horn fuse in the horn keeps going and then I have to take the fuse out can you help ?
You are exactly right the capacitors have to discharge.
Important Update: Jan 2013 there will be a new richpin channel for all future videos.Richpin06a channel will be mainly for all the Saturn lovers out there.Should be a lot of fun so stay tuned.
Why is it you need to wait 30 mins after removing the airbag fuse? I heard it has something to do with letting the capacitors in the airbag circuit discharge.
Hey Rich:
This question is not related to the horn button video. My wife’s 1999 Saturn SL2 has just
started to lightly slam when placed in reverse and has a slight delay in shifting when going from 0 – 30 miles an hour. I heard the car could need a Input/output shaft nut replacement. What is the going rate for this job? Is it a tough job to do? Do you have
a video on replacing the input/output shaft? Again, thanks for your insight. Enjoy
Thanksgiving.
I thought it might be a more common problem because you put a video up about it. Mine works, it’s just the plastic cover part of the button has a tab missing so it won’t stay in place. The double sided tape keeps it in pretty well.
HEY RICH WHEN I PRESS THE CLUTCH PEDAL AND PUT IT TO 2nd gear then quickly release the clutch pedal there’s a thuding sound is that normal ? or my inner CV is busted or sway bar or control arm already tired?? but when i’m turning at corner there’s no tok tok tok tok sound !!!!! INSTALLED OEM NEW CLUTCH DISK, PRESSURE PLATE, RELEASE BEARING IT’S A COROLLA 1995
So is it common for them to break? One of mine is broken, I just put some double sided tape between the metal spring piece and the plastic button which seems to work.
My horn buttons failed on my 1996 SL2 a year after I bought the car new. I checked for a TSB and recalls, Saturn had one recall for the the horn buttons. I contacted Saturn about it, they asked for my VIN number and then said my car was not part of the horn button recall, the VIN number was out of the range. I had to pay $150.00 at the Saturn dealer to get the horn buttons fixed.
Nice video on the subject for diyers. I have something like the same for Toyota Corolla 2004 on my youtube channel. My channel can be easily searched ” jahanzeb kohat ” on youtube search.

Thanks for the video Rich. I got mine temporarily hot glued right now until I make my way to the salvage yard. I just took mine out and some how 2 of the 3 plastic tabs that hold the button bezel to the rest of the button are broken and I couldn’t find any plastic remnants anywhere.
Working around airbags can be intimidating, but if you treat it as an explosive device and respect it as such, you will be safe. Good advice in this video! Also be sure to place the air bag on the ground with the part you look at facing up so if it goes off accidentally it doesn’t become a rocket propelled projectile!
Have you swapped the relay.

The horn relay could possibly be sticking.

I am currently on the Saturn forum website and I see the Wolfman
has some suggestions on handling this.
I also see that you have lots of helpful videos on the Saturn website.
Your videos are wonderful sources of information. Thanks.
It does sounds like it could be the dreaded reverse slam which i have not done a video on.
