I do have a video showing me removing the rear inner door panel.

Jim Hansen says:

I have a 2002 SL1 and the driver’s rear power door lock doesn’t work. My key fob will lock/unlock the other 3 doors. Also the lock/unlock button in the drivers door will control all 3 doors except for the driver’s rear door. I attempted to remove the door handle as in this video (there are 2 of those connections on the top, and 1 on the bottom). I couldn’t get the bottom one to come loose. Not sure what to do at this point. I also have power windows. HELP. Thank you.

pieman7 says:

This video was exactly what I needed to replace the lock switch on the front driver side of my 2000 Saturn SL1. The above and under shots of detaching & reattaching those plastic clips were critical as to not damage the parts. Removing the wire harness also very helpful since it was not obvious until watching this video. Thanks very much!!!

dogmae says:

A metal coathanger works as well

richpin06a says:

I have heard people just use a screwdriver.

23fluffypixies says:

do you need to have a pull rod for this job?

richpin06a says:

You can order them from Autozone or Amazon to name a few.

Erik Walton says:

I’m having trouble with “chattering” door locks. I’m going to replace the lock switch, my question is where can
you get a “pull rod” tool?

Craig Hudson says:

Your videos are so helpful! Now I’m off to buy a pull rod.

richpin06a says:

Was it as hard of a job as you thought.

redzo al says:

done installing!thank you so much for your video!

reallynotalex says:

Thanks so much, your videos are going to make doing my speaker installation so much easier!

Bradley Owens says:

@misterbeebe
ahh, I see–you have to slide it forward towards the front of the car to release from the retainer mechanism

Bradley Owens says:

hmm, I have the same handle, but it’s not loose at all

richpin06a says:

I am glad my video helped.

Angelica Gonzalez says:

Thank you for posting this instructional. My VERY impatient husband spent the afternoon frustrated trying to replace this door panel without removing the handle! He laughed at the simplicity once he saw this video. Thanks again. 🙂

da1976stone says:

i wonder if this works for 1999 kia sephia i sure it will work

Kelly Beard says:

Thanks Rich, my handle assembly is exactly like the one in your video but I imagine the lock switch can be removed. I’m finding used ones on ebay but I rather would have a new one.

Thanks for the video about the popping sound the door makes from the checklink. That’s been driving me crazy for a few months and that’s #1 on my get-fixed-list when the weather warms reliably. I guess I have to find a welder though. 🙂

richpin06a says:

I will have to PM you the location for Saturn parts.

Kelly Beard says:

Can someone help me find a door lock switch for a 99 SC1? I’m googling to death over here but these links never take me anywhere. A lot of these auto parts places are the same it seems. My driver side door switch prevents the passenger side door from locking. I have to fiddle with the driver side lock switch because it doesnt ‘rock’ correctly anymore. I’d fix the darn thing if I can find the part. Thanks!

Bodakhatib says:

Thank you very much for your illustrative video.I used your method on Hyundai atos 1998 & was very successful & I did not brake the handle. Thanks to you my friend.

benfirst says:

Oh, so that’s how you do it! I always forced the whole handle through the panel. That’s not fun… Thanks for posting!
