I saved myself a lot of work and just slid the rear deck interior down the seat belt. It at least exposed the whole rear deck, so it’s good enough for me
There is a large bolt that is located under the rear deck lid. You will have to remove the head rests as well to gain enough access to the seat belt bolts.
how would I go about doing that? A bolt in the trunk?
To properly access that area, you will need to remove the seat belts.
What about the rear speakers? Do I have to remove the seat belts to take that whole panel off to get to the speakers?
Yes the entire door panel needs to be removed.

How do you do this if you do not have power windows on the car. do you pop it off or does it have any screws hidden that can be stripped that are hiding in the window knob

It would be the same but for the manual one you will have to remove the C-clip for the hand crank.
I noticed the model you were doing this with has automatic windows. Mine has manual window control. What would be the procedure for removing the door panel with that on? It has been an ongoing battle to figure out as my two front speakers are blown and im trying to replace them.

You may need to remove the door panel and reach inside the door to see if you can pop the door open by hand. If you tug on the rod it should open for you, then you can fix the handle issue. Hope this helps you out.
what if the door wont open at all? inside or out
You may want to check the door jamb switch to see if anything is corroded that could cause this, or you could try to pull the headlight fuse, dome light fuse etc. while the chime is going off to try to narrow down what may be causing this. If your at a total loss, you may want to join a Saturn message board and post a thread about your issue to see if any fellow Saturn owners with your year make and model have experianced the same thing. Hope this helps you out.
