I’m just apprehensive about breaking the spark plug off in the head,
otherwise I would have done this already :

demarko9999 says:

What kind of tool did you use and what size is it exactly, i have a 95 s
series saturn

ddemier says:

How many miles should I change spark plugs on my 2004 2.2 engine saturn ion
and fuel filter on ny saturn ion. I have 156,000 miles

richpin06a says:

@davidzzz94 yes

richpin06a says:

@hiimian06 Remove the wire from the coil first now you can twist the wire
at the plug end and it will come off the plug now.

meyoumovie says:

97′ DOHC SL1….. #1 spark plug well has oil inside covering the spark
plug. I’m in the middle of replacing the valve cover gasket. If that does
not work, what are my next options ?

shackletainment says:

very helpful video, thanks. If the well isn’t dry, what can be done about
it? Also do you know what the spark plug gap should be for a ’95 sl2? Thanks

railwayed says:

Thanks for another great video. There are many people like me who want to
work on their car but have little experience and don’t have a person to
watch and get advice. I replaced the spark plugs on my Saturn this morning
with no problems. THANKS.

pepene93 says:

@ThebigHurtt if theres that much, id be willing to bet your valve cover
gasket is either broken or not seated properly. it could also be a badly
cracked head, but youd have other signs of that

richpin06a says:

It would have to be a lot of oil in all four wells and would more than
likely run badly beforehand..

Don TheMon says:

What if its not dry in the spark plug hole…i got a little bit of oil in
the first one.

fenix144 says:

is it right that if the motor is hot you can fuck up the treads in an
aluminium head?

sehkmh says:

What if there is coolant or other in the well?

meyoumovie says:

@richpin06a Thank you very much for your time. Merry Christmas and Happy
New Year.

hp11208 says:

4cyl engine easy to work on

richpin06a says:

@thebG703 When enough oil gets in there you will get a misfire and a check
engine light.

lyricia1996 says:

I have oil in that first well. Just ordered an aluminum valve cover online
that came off of a 1994 to replace my less than sturdy 1996 black valve
cover. Currently my SC2 misfires and every so often the SES light comes on.
Hope this will clear up that problem.

richpin06a says:

Yes it is never remove the spark plugs from a hot engine.

Koolbreaze7 says:

Changed plugs on 2002 DOHC SL2. Oil on threads and electrodes on plugs 1,3
and 4 – wells all dry though. Is this a valve cover issue or something more
serious? A friend suggested synthetic oil would stop the leaking. Also had
code 041 but between repacing plugs, wires and ETCS – it cleared.130k miles.

richpin06a says:

@meyoumovie If the gasket does not fix it there are two things to look at
the head or the valve cover.

richpin06a says:

It’s valve cover gasket time.

davidzzz94 says:

anti seize? is that so its not impossible to take out the next time u
replace it?

richpin06a says:

@shackletainment If it is not dry you put in a valve cover gasket set.The
gap is .040

richpin06a says:

@kvssravi Very similar

kvssravi says:

That’s Heartbreaker in the background!! Thanks Rich, is this the same
technique for a Saturn Ion as well? I’m looking to have the plugs replaced
but these guys wanna charge me 100 bucks, I don’t want to lose that money!
