97′ DOHC SL1….. #1 spark plug well has oil inside covering the spark
plug. I’m in the middle of replacing the valve cover gasket. If that does
not work, what are my next options ?
Thanks for another great video. There are many people like me who want to
work on their car but have little experience and don’t have a person to
watch and get advice. I replaced the spark plugs on my Saturn this morning
with no problems. THANKS.
@ThebigHurtt if theres that much, id be willing to bet your valve cover
gasket is either broken or not seated properly. it could also be a badly
cracked head, but youd have other signs of that
I have oil in that first well. Just ordered an aluminum valve cover online
that came off of a 1994 to replace my less than sturdy 1996 black valve
cover. Currently my SC2 misfires and every so often the SES light comes on.
Hope this will clear up that problem.
Changed plugs on 2002 DOHC SL2. Oil on threads and electrodes on plugs 1,3
and 4 – wells all dry though. Is this a valve cover issue or something more
serious? A friend suggested synthetic oil would stop the leaking. Also had
code 041 but between repacing plugs,wires and ETCS – it cleared.130k miles.

technique for a Saturn Ion as well? I’m looking to have the plugs replaced
but these guys wanna charge me 100 bucks, I don’t want to lose that money!

@hiimian06 Remove the wire from the coil first now you can twist the wire
at the plug end and it will come off the plug now.

It would have to be a lot of oil in all four wells and would more than
likely run badly beforehand..
What if its not dry in the spark plug hole…i got a little bit of oil in
the first one.
is it right that if the motor is hot you can fuck up the treads in an
aluminium head?
What if there is coolant or other in the well?

@thebG703 When enough oil gets in there you will get a misfire and a check
engine light.

Yes it is never remove the spark plugs from a hot engine.

@meyoumovie If the gasket does not fix it there are two things to look at
the head or the valve cover.
It’s valve cover gasket time.
anti seize? is that so its not impossible to take out the next time u
replace it?
@shackletainment If it is not dry you put in a valve cover gasket set.The
gap is .040
