'99 Saturn SL2 1.9L DOHC no-crank diagnosis … and the quick FIX!

Today we’ve got a ’99 SL2 that left the owner stranded as a no-crank. As luck would have it, I found an accurate wiring diagram on the net (no cost), and was able to successfully repair the vehicle through process of elimination. Hopefully this will give you some direction, and keep your vintage Saturn rolling down the road.

-Enjoy!

How about this on a 2001 Saturn v6 se

David Bergman says:

Have you had to replace the starter key switch yet? with the relay gone that's what's going to happen.

Supreme805 says:

I cut the top off and turned it into a derby car so really happy to have it back and running before it is destroyed haha

Supreme805 says:

This helped a lot, I had same issue because I lost my keys and tried to Hotwire it and blew that breaker and then found the keys. Took a shot in the dark and truer what u did in 32:19 and it started right up!

Fin says:

Man goodstuff! My Pops passed away recently and I inherited his saturn and some other things but anyways his car was having same issue. Before watching video I was able to jiggle the wiring harness that hooks to that relay and it started but was clueless on what the issue was. Now I know thanks to this very informative video! Great job!

SMITTY! I was so happy to find this vid. You made it easy to understand and you're troubleshooting makes a lot of sense. You're solution is brilliant!
I have the exact same problem. In my case, the jumper fix didn't fix it.
I'm so mystified on what it could be.

I got a 98 saturn sl1 for 300$ that would not start I desided to start shaking wire in the center uder the radio and the car fired up I mad a hell of a deal funny part it the previous owner was a electrician and he could figure it out car has 280k miles I put 40 k on it myself. Lol thats my story

chuck Core says:

What kind of wire did you use for that jumper?

Isaiah Penrod says:

Thanks for the video. My 99 Saturn had the exact same issue. No crank. Verified everything was working right. Put the jumper on the starter cutoff relay and all is good now
