Saab DIY: How to Replace Inner and Outer Tie Rods on Your 2003+ Saab 9-3.

Welcome to the Channel! In today’s episode I’m replacing inner and outter tie rods on a 2008 Saab 9-3 Aero FWD. To do this you’ll need to rent an inner tie rod tool (if you don’t own one). I picked one up at my local parts store where I was able to rent one for free (with just a security deposit). Since I was replacing both inner and outer I went ahead and cut the inner, however if you’re planning on reusing your outer you may not want to do that. I don’t recommend reusing an outer tie rod end when doing an inner just because they’re not expensive and since you have it all apart you may as well do those at the same time since they’re a wear item. Remember get a 4 wheel alignment after this service!

Parts Used:
Moog Outer Tie Rod End: L: ES800409 R: ES800410
Moog Inner Tie Rod: EV800381 (x2)

Tools Needed:
18MM Socket
Inner Tie Rod Tool Set (with 35mm or 1 3/8″)
Big Hammer
Pickle Fork (Tie Rod tool)
Flat Blade Screw Drivers
Pry Bar
Needle Nose Pliers
Angle Pliers
Angle Grinder (If you can’t get the tie rod end off otherwise)
