This is how to replace or remove the Engine Control Unit (ECU, or Engine Control Module, ECM) in a Saab 9-5.
Please note that if your car is a right-hand drive version, the ECU is located on the left side of the vehicle.
These instructions do not apply to the Saab 9-3 since the ECU is instead located behind the glovebox.

Hi, I have a 1997 saab 900s, it the ecu in the same location?
Do you have to disconnect the battery first before unplugging the ecu?
Is there anything else that you need to do other than just plug it in

I thought that the new ECU had to be "married" to the car. You're telling me that if I get an ECU with a different tune I can just throw it in there and it will work?
