A common problem the 2003-2014 Saab 9-3 is peeling interior parts particularly the door grab handles. While Hirsch do sell leather replacements these can be extremely expensive ($300-$500 per set). So in this video we guide you through how to redo your interior grab handles with plasti-dip which results in a similar to OEM finish if done right.
If anyone's still out there, anyone at all: this fix also works for the button above glove box (entire trim above box needs to be removed, there's how-to videos for that)
An alternative to the sanding is getting an adhesive remover, I used Unisolve pads and some elbow grease. Worked perfectly and the surface was clean and smooth and then the Plasti Dip. Looks great.
Esaabparts has new OEM LH and RH covers for NG 9-3's for $20 bucks…don't bother with all this. Just did mine this week, 5 minute job.
This worked out awesome! (see result: https://ibb.co/g8d2on )
Do you know how to get the plastic cover around the window controlls off? Would like to do the same to those panels and they as they are a bit worn.
2:10 poor sanding before painting 🙁
so good. Is it soft touch coating or just a standart black plasti dip ?
Perfect, was just thinking on how-to fix that!
hi, excellent how-to video! how well does this hold up over time? Does it come off in your hand?
