Saab 9-3, no start part 2

Saab wasn’t starting after it died on the highway, i try and tackle it by replacing the CPS.

It is not that difficult to change the CPS. Just have lightweight toolset
(with bending arm) and know that the sensor is mounted by torx screw. You
don’t see it but you can feel it. When I changed mine I also changed the
torx screw to hex bolt.

If you use Facebook get on Saab Owners of North America and I will provide
a picture of mine on my 9-3. Take care.

Lonnie Royal says:

The bottom end of the CPS should have a shield on it. Heat will do more
damage and cause more problems if it is not properly placed and existent in
the first place. So make sure to get one at junk yard. The bolted on part
of the sensor needs to be shielded or it will fail in a short time. I
didn’t notice if you had the shield on it or not, but it is a small metal
shield that clips around the sensor. Best of luck, and great video, thanks.

Thinking back it did feel like the power was not all there, not that it
felt slow per say, always felt like it wasn’t 100% I had dips in idle
definitely almost like it was dying out but not enough that it would scared
you, just something that you could feel in the pedal or in your seat if you
were used to the car.

bteeuwen says:

Behind the turbo, and down a little bit on the right side, you should find
that there is a wire running there, hard to see usually because of dirt
build up and also the cps has a little heat shield over it as well.

bteeuwen says:

i was hoping you would see the video! 🙂

YEAAHHHHHH BUDDY!

Michael Powell says:

When you were “thinking back”, did your engine idle a little rough ever now
and then or hesitate during idle as if it were running out of fuel before
it just died? My 9-5 suddenly died while in a bank drive-thru… On the way
there it felt like the engine power was a little week also…

eagletalonpl says:

did it just die all of a sudden?

bteeuwen says:

Not all of a sudden, though when i thought back upon it i did have symptoms
that would indicate the cps failing, but nothing drastic though, it was a
fairly surprising break down for sure.
