Quick Fix For Lost Mirror Cover! (2007 Saab 9-5 Linear) – Trionic Seven

This is a very common issue on the Saab 9-5. Weak plastic clips holding the rear view mirror cover result in it falling off. In this video I show you how to fix it quickly with a new cover. No, we don’t care about the paint for this car.

The Saab 9-3 has a very similar procedure.

Swedish: Hur man sätter fast en backspegelkåpa som lossnat på Saab 9-5. Det är vanligt att kåpan lossnar i t.ex. biltvätten.

In hindsight this feels like a trivial video, but I hope that these instructions are useful for someone wondering about this procedure.

Just yesterday I was driving on the free way when a piece of chalk board or something flew off the truck in front of me and hit my mirror and took of my mirror cap on my 08 Silverado so sad , i felt the bad luck in the air

William Miller says:

I put gorilla glue on those 4 plastic prongs to make sure the cover won't fall off so easily

topspoke says:

On my 2005 model (pre facelift) there were 2 screws holding the cover on as well as the clips. You can see the plastic posts that they screw into on the part in the video. You have to take the mirror out to gain access to the screws. I'm not sure if the Dame Edna facelift cars have the screws as they don't appear to be there in the video. Mine was smashed off by a BMW driver who had cut the bend = *"#@head. His mirror (with built in indicator repeater) was totally demolished (ha ha served him right! = expensive). My mirror cover had a crack in it when I picked it up off the road (I had to try not to laugh in front of the guy!). I decided to buy a new one rather than try to repair it. I got one from Neo Brothers here in the UK and painted it to match the car before fitting it. The hardest part of the job was getting that fiddly spring to pop off behind the mirror.

James Martin says:

Hi, have a 2006 95, I hit my mirror and forced the cover off while backing into my garage. It did not crack the cover it just popped off but it broke the clips inside. Other than that it is re-useable and already painted. What type of glue did your friend use to glue his back on? I have not figured out the best glue option yet and have it held on with a zip tie for now. Also, I was wonder if I drilled holes in the indentations on the cover would they match the holes in the mirror structure. But maybe that will look a little tacky. What type glue did your friend use? and is it holding up? What are your thoughts? And your video is spot on for dummies like me.

Christoffer Andersson says:

Hur tar man bort kåpan bara o bryta eller ?

"Old" model of 9-5 have two bolts and no problems with covers. 🙂

Richard Myers says:

I'd love to see a video about how to address the corrosion on the trim by the window. Mine has gotten really bad and I'm always looking for a simple fix.

Luke Mallory says:

Dude… I have a 2007 Saab 9-5… It's also Titan Grey… It's also got a broken mirror cover which I glued on… it has astronomical mileage… stop calling it OLD!

Fjolleri says:

Mycket informativ video! Dock, öka farten i dina videos. Vi behöver inte se på när du öppnar en kartong, klipp/snabbspola, sett lite fart!

X3m Man says:

Sluta aldrig med det du gör, hur bra som helst! 🙂
