Easy SAAB 9-3 DIY Power Steering Fluid Flush

Easy SAAB 9-3 DIY Power Steering Fluid Flush

In this video I flush out the old nasty power steering fluid and put in some new CHF202 fluid in hopes to improve the cars steering feel. This same process can be used on just about all vehicles with a hydraulic power steering system.

CHF202 power steering fluid. 1 liter needed to fill system but I used 2 during my flush and fill process = https://amzn.to/32MEZTm

Handy vacuum pump used in video = https://amzn.to/317jk84

I had issues with the o-rings that came in the vaccum pump kit and now use these. You should be able to find at your local hardware store for cheap = https://www.danco.com/product/87-o-ring-20-per-bag/

I believe the 202 is partial synthetic and 11S is full synthetic. Thanks, Gary! Nice video!

On the Saab Workshop information system, program (I got from I think Saab scene website) It says to jack up car, to get front wheels off the ground, remove the top hose at bottom of power steering reservoir, place catch pan under hose, start car and turn steering all the way one way and other way, turn off car when fluid flow diminishes, replace hose and refill reservoir.

It's funny cause i came here for a little info about the ps and you're having the opposite problem that I'm having. Just bought an 08 aero and my steering wheel barely moves lol

I have the same king of brake fluid evacuation pump. I switched the order of the hoses putting the the short hose between the pump and pump's reservoir and used the longer hose to empty the car's PS reservoir. It's a little thing, but I makes the process less messy. Thanks for all the videos! 2006 9-3 2.0 convertible 94k miles

My dude!!!! Happy New Year to you my fellow Saabruh!!!!!!!!You got that right!!! CHF-11S costs $27-29 dollars for one liter. I know for I bought it twice. This I can verify, both of them at O'Reilly's. This is good to know, for I have the same issue with my v6. I was thinking if was either the Rack and Pinion or pump itself.

@hobbyavenue6740 says:

Also I will add I see your car has the rubber grommets that were used to drill holes in your rockers for undercoating and rust proofing.. lokks easier to take those trim pieces off get a can of rust check or similar ans spray in there to keep rust away. There was moisture in the rockers trying to escape.
