Well considering this guy is changing the pads only and didn’t even touch the rotors is a bit of a red flag, I can only hope he turned them before doing this “pit stop” brake change but I highly doubt that since the wheel was on and all. Turn the rotors by hand on a real manual lathe and you might impress us a little.

Dammit…… Good Job….. Fast…

lilria0826 says:

How to reset the brake light? Will changin the sensors make it go away?

rcm starter says:

that because you bought aftermarket pads and not Porsche OEM pads..
dealer might have cut the rotors or replace them.
Porsche, BWM, ect
Parts are very very expensive.
I work in shop,
We did a brake job on Mercedes Benz
If I remembered it was about 600-700 for parts
just for the front of car.
Those slide pins were like 25 bucks each!
you get what you pay for…. it a Porsche, not a toyota. ford, gm

I am thinking of replacing the brake pads on my 991 S. Does anyone one a good brands that make high performance ones that i can occasionally take on track days ? Its probably a stupid question to ask but I never bought brake pads and now that I am am looking I cant find anything, plus I am looking for something nice without giving thousands to those asshole in the dealership that would charge you for breathing air if they could.

Check out my channel. There is an in-depth 2 part video on how to do the front and rear pads, rotors, and brake sensors. It’s for a VW Touareg, but they have the exact same brakes. Their identical.

Samzee says:

How about an in-depth tutorial?

Boris Populoh says:

…I just changed the brake pads on all 4 wheels on my 09 Cayenne. It was not difficult. The video was very helpful. It took me a little longer than 9 minutes, about 4 hrs. for all 4 wheels, but I saved $2,300.00 from what my dealer had quoted me. I can not believe that they charge that much…total rip-off. I used Monroe break pads bought via Amazon.

is that a porsche cayenne you working on it?

behellit says:

thanks a lot for the info, good video

jose gallardo says:

Yeah that’s the way to do it. Good comment.

Thanks for the vid!
Was this on a V6 Cayenne?

profuse007 says:

it seems you have a bad habit of not pre-fasten with you hand. laziness will cost you.

el3m3nt43 says:

everything here looks really straight forward, but i’m just confused as to what to do with the sensor. My warning lights have come on but I’m unsure as to how to reinstall the sensor, I dont know where the sensor wires go?

gt2rs says:

@kotafey..It’s to make removing and replacing the wheel back easier. Porsche uses a Bolt instead of wheel nut.

@ASALMS17..If you change your pads early enough without wearing the sensors all the way down to trigger the brake service light, then you won’t have too.

Thanks for the inputs and comments…

icemouse80 says:

really good job!!!!

kotafey says:

Sorry for being a newb, but what is that long thing you use for one of the wheel nuts? Is that for the locking wheel nut?

hallga007 says:

I lever the pistons back while the old pads are still in. It’s much easier like this as when you push one piston another pops out! – I think a screwdriver tip could nick the piston rubber gaiter, so no sense in risking it. I put a smear of copper grease on the backs of pads to stop squeal and a smear on the retainer pin as it saves me – or someone else, time.

love1988672007 says:

will it damage the piston if we push in the piston like that?

elvislives81677 says:

Nice job. I’m going to use this for my 944. Thanks.
