Pontiac V8 Rebuild, Part 16: How to install a Water Pump. Flow Kooler

Subscribe to watch Mike finish this engine build and re-install it into his 1969 Pontiac GTO Restomod, in his home garage! “How to install your Water Pump”, is Part 16 of this Pontiac 400/455 rebuild, but can be applied to all motor types. Another cooling trick for all motors is to upgrade your water pump to a Flow Kooler version (link below).

This is a very thorough description of what to do, how to do it, and what to watch out for. Mike is in the middle of rebuilding his Pontiac 400, which is now a Butler Performance 467, because a Roller Lifter Broke! (see link below). Enjoy!

Hey man I’m rebuilding a 66 gto. Where can I get a divider plate for it cheap? I can’t seem to find cheap ones anywhere!

Great video and good work with the POR15. I'm so glad I went to the Meziere EWP (to replace my FlowKooler) when I switched to serpentine, no more dealing with the divider plate and multiple gaskets. Best thing I ever did to stay cool in city traffic during summer.

New Sub Here ,Only Watched A Couple Videos ,But Very Nice Job !!! Will Be Watching The Rest Now !!!

Werewolf486 says:

I gap my divider plates no matter what. The method I use is to hammer the plate down to the impeller till it just touches without gaskets and then use the gasket as the shim.
I'd be concerned painting the divider plate as cavitation could lift that paint off and stick the thermostat or gum up water ports. Good luck with that.
