i have a 75 pontiac grand prix and fuel gauge reads empty. car is garaged since 1980 and was working fine. then all of a sudden it shows empty. i hardly drive it so not sure if it's the sending unit. Could it be the same issue? car only has 90 ish miles on it

Brandon says:

Would this be the same for my 76 Cadillac seville? My fuel gauge is reading all messed up and twitching very badly. Email me at brandonhoward1988@yahoo.com please and I also have some other questions as well ty

Guys thank you so much for this video! Hopefully this is the same set up for my 1977 Monte Carlo.

Brian says:

Do you sell the lead wire and the strap bolts for that tank and sending unit. My wire was cut and bolt were lost.

Mona Lisa says:

What is the part number for this sending unit, as I need to order one for my 75 Grandville and don't see the part on your website

Mark Gutierrez says:

Great video. Question…why do some tanks use 3 lines and others 2?

Great upload! I have a 1972 Pontiac Catalina sedan with a Pontiac 400/6.6 V8. It came with air conditioning which was installed on the assembly line in Doraville, Georgia during late February of that year. I've been having trouble with my fuel gauge and have reached the conclusion that I need to replace the sending unit. The last time I was underneath the car to clean the ground connection I am positive I saw three lines coming from above the fuel tank. I figured the third line was because of the AC unit as seen in the video above. I looked on the Discount Body Parts website and I found a sending unit for 1971-1972 models, but it only has two lines. I checked other year models and they had a sending unit "for models with A/C only" with three lines. The "Product Fit" category indicates that the the A/C version only fits 1973-1976 models. I need help figuring out what's going on here. I haven't dropped the tank yet. Did 1971-1972 models have a separate A/C line? Would the later 1973-1976 A/C version work with my car? Thanks in advance!
