Thanks for the vid. Very Helpful!!

MrHandyKen says:

A few comments/opinions on this. I highly recommend changing the pads when
changing the rotor. If the rotor had any imperfections, like gouges, those
were transferred to the pads; you don’t have to pull out the caliper bolts
all the way, just enough to get the caliper off; I believe the correct
Allen wrench /socket is 3/8″ (SAE); really should use something to hang the
calipers no matter how inconvenient same for jack stands; hope you didn’t
jack up the vehicle under the oil pan!

statikreg says:

Been a few years since I’ve done brakes. Great refresher…thanks!

billo321 says:

Okay, no. It doesn’t show when you use that wrong 9mm to remove the brake
pads. It doesn’t show. 250,000 people said WTF DUDE

billo321 says:

Normally, I would recommend a set of jack stand. I just don’t feel like
pulling ’em out. So…” omg. a utoob star. 250,000 people say ‘ME TOO!”

shinta798 says:

No, it’s your wheel bearing. probably. I would replace that, check your
endlinks, replace the rotor as it will warp anyway sooner or later, and
have an alignment

Johnnysshop says:

Could be but I would look more at tie-rod ends for that. Typically bad
rotors would only be effected while breaking.

Cody Gearhart says:

could bad rotors be the reason my car is shaking when I get to about 50 mph
?

djordan1122 says:

Thats would be the same process for a 99 grand am right??

xxxxxxBMJxxxxxx says:

Cheers Johnny, I haven’t done any brake fluid filling up, but in the past
it would have been done. For the car is an older 1992 Nissan van. I went to
jack it up today and could see square makings to put the jack, but i
couldn’t see where i put the jack stands. Any ideas on that?. It’s a 92
Nissan Serena van. I looked in the book but doesn’t really show anything.
The front is my important area, though i will have to also lift the back
and it has independent rear suspension.

xxxxxxBMJxxxxxx says:

Hi Johnny, I like the vid clip so subscribed, and i do have a quick
question. You say you clean the new rotors from factory oils/greases etc…
Could they be cleaned by wiping say mentholated spirits around the rotors
on a cloth ? Oh and if no bleeding is required, do you removed the brake
fluid lid “where brake fluid goes’ prior to clamping piston/s or is it ok
to leave lid on ?. Thanks for any help, and keep the vids coming.

Johnnysshop says:

You really should replace them in pairs but I’ve done just one before. As
long as it’s not worn too bad you should be okay.

Johnnysshop says:

Sure you could use mineral spirits. As far as the fluid is concerned, if
you’ve never added fluid you should be fine but if you have, you may need
to open it open and take a little out to avoid overflowing. I typically
don’t take the cap off but you can, it will make clamping the piston back
down a little easier but not much.

ZandorRI says:

Hi Johnny, great videos. Quick question, my moms DS caliper froze up
destroying the pads and gouging the rotor. It appears thet the PS caliper
has been replaced and the PS rotor and caliper are in spec and working
properly not even any groves in rotor. She’s on a fixed income and I was
wondering if I can just replace the DS Rotor or do I need to replace both?

Johnnysshop says:

@waynegarbo Hmm. Interesting. You can usually rent the pullers from
automotive stores or buy a cheapo model at Harbor Freight for a one time
use. It has claws on it, hard to explain.

ampecsu says:

i need more explanation on 3:55 to 4:05

Johnnysshop says:

Send me a PM with that link

Johnnysshop says:

@kipkeith1 Glad I could help!

Johnnysshop says:

Either you’ve got a bent rim, rims are too small, missing spacers in the
caliper (not common to have spacers) or the wrong rim offset.

remusjacobs says:

i suck at this. can you just come by later today and fix my rotor? thanks

Johnnysshop says:

@Rootie222 Thanks for the feedback! Next time it will take you half of
that.

OKBAOK says:

Thanks, Bless your Heart. I’m having problem with my 05 camry shaking when
I brake @45mph. Total miles 68k. Thanks for the similar idea. Have a good
one 🙂

susan guimond says:

Thanks for the info. Easier then I had thought.

Johnnysshop says:

Yeah, it’s pretty easy.

Johnnysshop says:

@JayZoop Probably so!

Johnnysshop says:

Thanks for watching, hope it works out for ya!

Johnnysshop says:

Thanks for watching! Probably rotors for sure!

LiftBigEatBig1 says:

Thanks for the video! Do you have any tips on purchasing new rotors? We
have to replace the front rotors on my Dad’s 2002 Escalade. He phoned
around and they range in price from $45 up to $163 (different brands). We
don’t need anything specific for performance. Just something reliable.
Thanks!

Johnnysshop says:

@00solrac00 Thanks for watching!

970rsmc says:

Great video, thank you.

Johnnysshop says:

@mommasboyward Thanks!

MrRudiger says:

Is it not necessary to pump the brakes after brake installation on GM cars,
or on this particular car?

bhopperlinc says:

If your bearings are going bad your wheel will heat up which could cause
the melting your talking about. If the bearings are bad your entire wheel
can lock up.the greased bearings are what allows your wheel to turn.

Johnnysshop says:

Should be close!

Yomi Ajasin says:

I am glad I watched this, my mechanic quoted me $250,

LiftBigEatBig1 says:

Thanks!

Johnnysshop says:

@PhillysBest12 The hub? It almost sounds like you tightened them way too
tight. Which is pretty hard to do. How tight did make em?
