Hood Ornament Emblem Restoration Cheap DIY for Pontiac Chieftain

This week in the shop I worked on bringing back the 1954 Pontiac Chieftain’s hood emblem starting with a little paint stripper. The Grizzly high speed buffer really cut down the sanding time vs stepping through all the grits. If you’re looking for sandpapers for a mirror like finish be sure to check out your local auto store. Home stores don’t usually carry the 1,500-25,000 grit paper you’d need for mirror like shine but the auto stores should have it. The paint I used was Testors enamel for model building that I picked up at a hobby store.

Enjoy!
