Toyota Aygo/Peugeot 107/Citroen C1 Clutch change

Toyota Aygo/Peugeot 107/Citroen C1 Clutch change

How to change the clutch on a MK1 Toyota Aygo. This particular car is a 2010 but i dont think the MK1 changed a great deal over its lifespan. The Peugeot 107 and Citroen C1 will be identical.
As front wheel drive clutches go this is one of the easier ones to do. Aygos and their ilk are very cheap second hand and tend to have burnt out clutches due to them being the car of choice of new drivers, driving instructors and those not great with clutch control. Thankfully it is very cheap to replace and should be within the realms of most DIYers looking to tackle the job on their driveway.

I have change my clutch over the last weekend. I was expecting i t to be much easier – because of the engine size. I had couple of problems and couple of tools I had to go and buy when I needed them. Gearbox grew together to engine and it took 2 crowbars and alot of force to separete it. Summary: It took longer than expected (a car lift would be handy) as axle jacks are a bit low. Video is well detailed and got everything you need to get it done.

Dude, you a perfectly functional lift, why not invest in a transmission jack so you don’t need to lie on the floor with a transmission on your stomach…?

Hi There, just had my clutch replaced on a 2009 Peugeot 107. There's about 4-5cm of freeplay now but biting point much lower now as it should be. How do I adjust out the freeplay? I know to adjust a worn clutch you turn the adjustment wheel towards the battery to lower the biting point but if I go the other way do I risk lowering the clutch biting point too much?
Is it a problem to have a bit too much freeplay in a new clutch?

Just got an Aygo that needs New Clutch. Like the style of your video with clear camera work and great instructions. I especially appreciate the nut and bolt sizes given on screen. From a very competent DIYer. Well done and thanks very much for the effort you went too.

You just need to remove lower arm , you can easily access the cv shaft and put to the side . Without removing both cv shaft . The rest is a pice of cake

I had the same problem with 36k mls, it had started to slip, and the biting point was right at the end of the pedal. Once discovering the clutch in these is not self adjusting, I adjusted the cable, lowered the biting point, problem solved completely.
