Minor Crash Repair – 2005 Peugeot 206

This 206 belongs to my sister, and the other day it she hit a patch of ice coming off the motorway and slid into the crash barrier, that morning there were 4 other accidents on the same stretch of motorway it had not been gritted, thankfully she was not hurt and the damage to the car was minimal, in fact it drove back home to my shed.
The damaged parts included the upper colour coded section of the bumper, the lower radiator grille, the upper radiator grille, both headlights were broken although their outer lens looked fine, the back of them were cracked and the mounting lugs had all snapped off. The drivers side tyre was also punctured. The parts were bought from a local scrapyard, a bumper was souced from a car of the same colour, although scratched worse in places than the original the colour coded section, lower grille, and fog light were in good condition.
The upper radiator grille (the part with the Peugeot logo) was sourced from a car of a different colour, but still farily close, and the headlights were brand new aftermarket items and a replacement tyre was bought. In all the parts came to a total of £120.
It isn’t an overly difficult car to fix, the worst bit you might come across is the bolt attaching the bumper to the wing, the bolt is held captive in the bumper, and the nut is accesed from behind the cavity left by removing the headlight, usuaully the two rust together solidly, but it also can be the case where the bolt starts spinning as the bumpers plastic is not strong enough to hold it captive, in the end the quickest way to sort this out is just to rip the bumper out of place, one of the plastic locating lugs broke but the bumper has went back on perfectly. Its advised to put copper grease on these nuts and bolts to stop them rusting up incase the bumper needs to come off again.
The upper radiator grille still needs to be resprayed, and if you look carefully in the video it was not clipped into place fully on the drivers side, that is because that side did not come with clips, the clips have been ordered but for the time being its held securely in place with a cable tie, the numberplate could also do with being replaced as its cracked in one corner. Although the car at least is back together.
Hopefully this video will help if you need to remove the front bumper, headlights, or front foglights on a 206, no two accident damaged cars are the same, and thankfully this one one didn’t get hit too seriously, in some cases the panels behind may get bent and it’s a lot more work trying to get things to line up correctly again.

I'm trying to reinstall the torx screws under the bumper that hold the wheearch liner to the bumper but the one in the front doesn't want to come in and take hold in place. Do you have any advice for this. Any help wil be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Nice job. One of the great things about driving such cars as 206's and Corsa's is you can pick up a new front end for nothing.

I remember when I stoved in the front of a Corsa I went to a scrapper the next day and got a whole new bumper for £10.

Bangernomics 🙂

nicely done repair 🙂 i wish it were easier to get parts in the KHD color code here in Denmark, as we were hit by a truck, so we need to replace the left front fender and left front door

Does fixing 15+ year old cars take a lot of force? Can a 100lbs, 5ft4 girl do it?

Hi great job done on this 206. I have one just like this and on the back side, covering the car boot handle and the number plate lights there is also a colour coded plastic part. Mine is coming off do you know what type of clips are used to hold this in place so that I can replace them. Thanks
