Liamautomechanic says:

i take its a new or reconditioned axel, at that price.to replace the bearings as in the video, costs 250, euros per side.

Laurens Vermeyen says:

My garage will fix it for 1000euro, is this a good price or to much?

Peter Kennedy says:

hi liam are you from northern ireland, would ya fix an axle from me

Liamautomechanic says:

you can give it a go,if u want to, but when the bearing are worn, there worn, thats it, its usually the outer bearings that go first, the top of the wheel lies in, only one job, is to replace the bearings, good luck.

torchyboyz says:

Hello again Liam. I took on board your comment that a grease nipple wouldn’t work. I presume the reason is because of the plastic spacer between the bearings, so I thought a bit more and I think that a 1/4 inch hole drilled in the centre of the beam axle, halfway up and filled with say 1/2 pint of hypoid 90 would do the trick as it would flow to both sides of the axle and oil the bearings. This could be tapped for a nipple and topped up say every 6 months. What do you think? Regards, Paul.

Liamautomechanic says:

no the grease nipple job wont do , just change the bearings when they wear out.and put plenty of grease in when replacing the bearings.

torchyboyz says:

Hi Liam. I have a Citroen Berlingo 2008 model. I want to drill and tap the radius arms to fit grease nipples. Is there a spacer between the bearings that would prevent the grease from getting to the bearings? If there is, is it just a plastic spacer that I can drill or is it steel? Thanks in advance Liam and please keep the vids coming they are just great. Kindest regards, Paul.

ger bear says:

cheers liam
im gonna tackle it next weekend
i tookout the washer and bolt holding on the bar and soaked it in wd40 and put it back together .
hopefully it might soak in and make the job easier .
oh and yes mine got a closed cap bearing on the end .
thanks again

Liamautomechanic says:

you can fit the outer bearing last if its the cup type. if not u can fit both bearings at the bench, and make sure every part that slides on is greased and clean, you can use any 2 claw puller to remove the torson bar, a wee bit of preasure then tap out with a sledge hammer, use safety glasses and gloves. good luck.

ger bear says:

hiya liam
im going to tackle this job myself next week on my berlingo

anyway mine is only gone on the drivers side and its not too bad but still failed the doe on it .
ive a few questions if you dont mind ?
do you fit the outer bearing before you re-install the arm ?
and could you send me a pic or some measurements of your puller so i can make one up ?
and my anti roll bar isn’t broken will it pull out easy ?
thanks

Dear Liamautomechanic….please can u talk loud and clear,i can”t follow you.We love your videos very much…Thanks

Liamautomechanic says:

they can be very tight to shift, some times, the puller makes the job easier, or the gas torch

TrueBlueEG8 says:

ah i always heat these before i do anything , and sometime while they are hot melt a candle or crayon into them ,its an old trick me da used.

Liamautomechanic says:

yea very difficult to remove.,im working on a new puller removal tool, to make the job easier, it will be on sale shortly, details will be posted on my channell.

TrueBlueEG8 says:

Those torsion bars can be stubborn little feckers, good man liam.

SamEEE12 says:

Man those bearings were a bit tired… must have been pretty noisy before he/she got it into the shop.
