Is the 2004 alero the same engine. I’ve noticed the same thing I sit idle I overheat n when I give in gas n start going I cool off. I just went n replaced both hoses cuz they looked like they were leaking. Well I was having problem with overheating the car is used so I’m not sure if the water pump has previously been replaced but it definitely is making a noise it’s coming from the water pump n leaking underneath that spot on the ground I can’t actually see the leak but it’s coming out pretty good. So before I go buy my pump from oreillys my buddy works there do u think maybe I should look into this Cadillac engine first since I’m having the idling problem.? I thought that was odd myself sitting n overheating vs driving n going to normal.

So my 1994 oldsmobile cutlass ciera 3.1 v6 keeps wanting to stall out when idling why

David Rosenberg says:

Hi matt, i have a 2000 Intrigue with a 3.5 and ive had it since new. I just replaced the radiator and water pump. I had none of the troubles you discussed. I did use a new delco water pump from rock auto. It was 45 dollars and as far as bleeding the air i raised the front of the car 10 inches and just poured in the coolant until it stopped gurgling started the car turned on the heater and filled it some more. No problems

Dave Smith says:

I'm having the same issued on my 1999 Oldsmobile Intrigue.

David Gardner says:

Did the GM Part's fix the problem?

jerica gem says:

This all makes sense now. I had to bring the rpms up for it to cool down. Im having issues with the coolant light staying lite. Every time i check the fluids, it has not moved. The car has started to do a "putput" feeling, so i stopped driving it. Did you make a video after? How do i get a discontinued part?

April Buhneing says:

Do you know of the 1999 is the same thing?

tjorissen41 says:

Josh Bullon-Valdes says:

nathaniel jacob williams says:

Your advice and information is spot on, but i would suggest getting rid of the dexcool crap. It's terrible and really hard on the engine in the long run

Mariah Decker says:

I am impressed. Well done. U did an amazing job explaining everything.

Rodney Willis says:

I have a 01 olds intrigue same problem I got the water pump from gm but they discontinued the thermostat housing and thermostat it runs a little hot but when I give it gas up to 2500 rpms it goes back down to normal temp then I notice that it has air pockets in it the house by back of motor that runs to heater core pops with pressure I cant figure it out at all

Tammy Hill says:

Where is the thermostat coolant sensor located on a 2002 olds intrigue GL

alkigirl says:

Hello Matthew, I have an Oldsmobile intrigue, 2002, GL. I replaced the thermostat and the reservoir but now my low engine coolant light is staying on. It wasn't on before and my coolant is not low

Bryson Martin says:

Make a video how to bleed it please

Matticus Minot says:

crap I wished I would have watched this before. I could of just redo the gasket on the old water pump. Nope bought the new one and have the same problem as you.

minike Tate says:

Is the thermostat located in the same place on a 98 alero?

Mike Dupes says:

Oh I'm working on a 97 trying to anyway

First Class says:

Did the dealership parts fix that problem for you

Mark Donnelly says:

GM water pump only, the impeller is deeper into the water pump housing

Danica Uzelac says:

Terrence Grundy says:

I’m pretty sure I need a new thermostat

Terrence Grundy says:
