How to install a Valley Tray on an Oldsmobile Small Block

Valley trays help keep intake manifolds cooler by shielding the underside from oil “splashing”. Big block Oldsmobile engines have tapped holes for this style tray but small blocks do not. This is how to drill, tap, and install this style valley tray correctly. It’s recommended that this mod be performed on a disassembled block, not while in the vehicle.

Just use a valley pan gasket. That's all….

I definitely won’t be drilling mine over the engine like that . Metal shaving all over

Is this for adding big block heads/intake on a small block? I'm just wondering what the application requirement is.

AC says:

I would drill more holes and add more bolts Merica

Don't do this. Correct Oldsmobile intake manifold gaskets for small block V8 motors are aluminum and have the tray built-in. This is needless customization and an opportunity to damage something.
