This is a great little sales film peddling the Futuramic 1948 Oldsmobile. I cut it down to its best bits. Enjoy!

my uncle had a 49 Olds That Car was nice. Only what I can remember of it.
Check out this 1948 Oldsmobile “Car of Tomorrow” for Throwback Thursday!
I love the old school song in the very beginning……the sound pitch just
goes up and down until just right for the rest of the commercial!
Ouch!
Certainly your Fathers Oldmobile
I’m 20 and I have a 1947 olds as my daily driver. It’s a blast.
Thanks for the very cool clip !1
1:05 “Those headlights are what get me.” LOL Those are standardized
circular sealed beam units! I guess he’s easily amused.
da cah of tommarah
@smithraymond09029 hey i never got laid… what are you trying to say! 🙂
@TheAmericanCanadian safety is mentioned because it has an automatic
transmission which was thought of as safer because…. as the girl asked
“no gears to shift?”
You don’t say… And then- huh? 🙂
What was so remarkable about the headlights?
That car comes with airbags or Sirius XM Radio, just kiddy love the car.
Bulbous America at its best! Thanks.
IT ACTIVATES THE FLUX CAPACITOR !
@smithraymond09029 Niether That Chick
lol dude at 1:24, she was flirting with you you nerdy fucker, she wanted to
lubricate your crankshaft dumbass but then you blew it and got a dismissive
“you don’t say”.
quiet woman, the men are talking..
any idiot that has to have the latest greatest whatever should be required
to watch this!!! well maybe not, those guys are good for our economy..
The most “dynamic-futuramic” thing about this video is that it’s in color!
I used to have several tapes of old car commercials, and they were almost
all in black & white, well into the 1960s.
interesting that Olds introduced Futuramic styling in ’48, but Chevrolet,
Pontiac, and Buick waited ’til ’49 to come out with that body style.
How about a 49 303 in my 47 fastback??
i wish that WAS the car of tomorrow 🙁 cars will never be as creative and
artistic as they used to.
@SirReal1958 well I thought she meant grand theft…. just getting in it
and driving away. Thats called car jacking….. 🙂
an automatic transmission.. before Ford or Chevrolet
i like when the dude goes, “the headlights are what get me”
Ha, ha, ha, he said lubrication. Ha, ha, ha
Well, in all techicallity, I guess that was the “car of tomorrow.” Today
just happen to be the “car of the day after tomorrow”
geez people always talk shit about everything…at least they lived in good
times those decades were beautiful, not this times we are living now with
stupid music,stupid people,stupid president…etc,etc,etc
what a time frame. Love that inspiring music!
well, I’m 20 and have a 1955
“The car of Tamara”
“Safety’s important” Then you’ll be delighted with this car’s safety
features, such as a rear view mirror. That is all.
Brilliant footage. WOW! what would those showroom cars be worth today 60
years on? Thanks for posting.
Quaint how there are so many words and so little genuine information!
“You can backseat drive there in solid comfort.” – Now just wait a cotton
picking minute there pal!
“You don’t say”
lois laine
At around 2:00 it looks a lot like ‘Superman’ in the driver’s seat (Steve
Reeves) –
The car of “ta-marrah”?
@nashtwin8 Thanks for pointing that out.
“Those headlights are what get me.” He’s never seen headlights til now?
wonderful, smart!
RIP Oldsmobile 1897-2004
