Also when doing this…be sure that u hear a snap when replace the harness back in. Some folks just attach the harness without snap. You will get a crank all day with no start. Snap that sucker back in there!!

RRAS Tutorials says:

No, you don’t have to. The oil settles way below the sensor.

yeah good question..

azmarkus says:

Correct, that was replaced also. A suggestion to those doing this: get the gasket from Nissan. I made the mistake of getting a cheaper one from Auto Zone which lasted only about a year before it started leaking again; the difference in quality is astounding.

Awesome!

RRAS Tutorials says:

You’re welcome! Also check that oil isn’t leaking from that front valve cover gasket. That is also a major cause of oil on the alternator.

azmarkus says:

Easy instructions, a non-mechanic like me was able to do this quite easily which will extend the life of the alternator which was getting soaked with oil (already replaced it once). Thanks for the vid.

i replaced the upper(back) one…the front is the old one. I dont see oil coming from there, but its hard to tell.
Since I got the full kit I will just replace that also, its easier than the back one….talk about removing things! Thought I was a mechanic or something and knew what i was doing!! LOL

RRAS Tutorials says:

hmm..i would have to go look at an engine to get a picture. Maybe its the valve cover gasket?

neilzep says:

I got a leak coming from that area…cant locate it? any ideas? gasket holding on the drive chain container? drips right near the oil pan. Oil pan was replaced 1 year ago btw.

Not sure about the fuel flow im waiting on a guage to see what the fuel pressure is at and before this had happened it would take a second for the engine to start while tryin to start the car.

RRAS Tutorials says:

Hmm….could be the camshaft or crankshaft position sensor. I know that you checked the fuel pump and filter, do you know if its getting a fuel flow to the engine? or maybe there is water in the gas tank? What lead up to the car not starting? were there any problems before that?

tcorwin91 says:

Hey quick question, i also have a 97 and it’ll turn over but wont start ive checked fuses, relay, fuel pump and filter, also changed spark plugs and coils and still wont start. If you have any ideas on what it could be please help thanks

bro i appreciate your videos.I have the same problem right now.I just did what you just did for the first one,but i still have the same problem.I was told there are 2 sensors, please can you tell me how to locate and fix the second sensor, because I think that might be the faulty one. Thanks alot.

Ronnybolt says:

NO you do Not have to drain oil!

Ronnybolt says:

NIce job on this one. I was worried that this would be too messy. NOT at all! Took about five minutes to complete. I used a faucet repair o-ring from Ace Hardware, $ .56. I used the size 15/16″ X 3/4″ X 3/32″. Perfect Fit. I can’t believe that I waited so long and let the oil accumulate on my driveway. Thanks for the video,

Vadoomed says:

Quick question… Do you have to flush down the engine oil before you install the O ring on the camshaft sensor?
