Just did this on my 2005 Murano, it took me three hours. Thanks for the
video! BTW – Nissan now wants $1,100+ for this part and $3,600 jn total.
Nissan indicated my car was out of warranty and offered no assistance, I
then said I’ll spread the word how they don’t support their product.
Cheapest place online was around $800, cost $900 at the end of the day. I
wish you spend more time on taking it apart instead of the side-by-side and
driving. otherwise most excellent

Petar Vlahu says:

Hi Laaf65, did you replace the bracket (thinking of doing it myself), and
if so how did it went?

Pat Glenn says:

I fell sleep watching this…

Laaf65 says:

Same for me… Same location. Nissan has redesigned the part once again.
You now can get the bracket: 87473-CA01A or Dorman 924-227 (It’s THAT bad
that an aftermarket company sees a market here). Nissan wants ~$125 for it
– and the Dorman bracket can be had for the same or slightly less… I’m
trying my luck with the Dorman bracket…

C M Browning says:

Just wanted to pass this along, The nissan modification is good for awhile,
the new seat frame broke! But it is where the round tube is welded to the
piece they replaced, took 3 yrs., the weld itself cracked and completely
separated.

Nick Prevost says:

Just did this to my 2007 Murano, 73000 miles. It took about 2 hours. Thanks
for doing this video, if this wasn’t here i’d probably have had to pay the
insane dealer prices.

frw123456 says:

The brackets all break on older Murano’s at about the same mileage and the
same bracket location (Drivers side left rear, raise the seat and look
underneath). I had the bracket welded for $50 (welded in two places) and it
is better than new. If you have the seat taken out at a shop like I did
they know how to disable the air bags, if you do it yourself make sure you
know what you are doing to disable the air bags. Many have done this same
fix vrs the Nissan dealer fix which is expensive.

cowsongs says:

This is not a WEIGHT problem, @nafddur. Your presumption only exposes your
ignorange. I am 5’8″ and weight 148 lbs, and my Murano seat bracket broke
at 49k miles. My local dealer has a group of local welders lined up that
they farm this repair out to, to save their customer from paying the $1000
replacement cost. Does that sound like something the dealer only sees as a
“rare exception”?

eskalaid718 says:

im going to try this on my altima .. i dont have a power seat but it should
be the same steps

BBISHOPPCM's World says:

@ncrdisabled I actually did add metal the second time, but it was a
low-grade steel. You’re absolutely right about the TIG welding, I just
don’t have access to one, and after the third failure, I don’t want to
spend any more time fixing it. I’m planning on selling the old frame on
eBay, as everything else is perfectly good.

fritzwonderdog says:

Thanks for the video. Our seat hasn’t broken all the way, it’s about to.
The dealer wants $822 to put the kit in. He says the kit is $475 now..
Still not cheap. Looks time consuming, but hey, I can save $350.

sbab83 says:

Nissan probably doesn’t want to admit the issue, so they don’t acknowledge
it. That way there’s no pressure for a recall. They quietly redesign the
part, so when people bring it in, they get the part replaced, pay for it
themselves, and the problem quietly goes away on the customer’s dime.

BBISHOPPCM's World says:

@nafddur How much do you think I weigh? Honestly. I weigh 180lbs, I’m not
some 250lb oath, you know. The seat failure can happen to anyone, at any
time, regardless of weight. Now, I hope yours doesn’t fail; seriously. I am
tired of reading your snide (quite rude) comments; please, grow up.

DAVID SULKES says:

I just want to add my self to the list of dissatisfied Nissan customers.
Mine broke 3 times and I had a body shop weld it 3 times and add a piece of
metal. It just broke again and the motor is not working correctly, i am
hoping it is because of the lowering of the seat and not the motor also…
POS!

BBISHOPPCM's World says:

@lolMyke There has been an investigation opened with the NHTSA, however,
not enough injuries have been reported to proceed with a campaign recall.

Jonny Rotten says:

I wish we could get Nissan to recall their seat. I have had my seat welded
once and it has failed again. I love people who comment as if they ran a
poll on this issue and feel it isn’t a problem. I am about 226lbs and have
had 15 vehicles of which no seat had ever failed prior to this vehicle. I
hate my nissan murano.

BBISHOPPCM's World says:

Excuse me?

Alan Delzell says:

Thanks for posting this video. I found the newly released rear bracket
driver’s side bracket from Nissan, Part # 87473-CA01A, Link Assy Rea With
the help of your video I installed it easily.

Zhu8 says:

looks like your steering wheel is showing some wear.

matrixlalala says:

stewie griffin?

lolMyke says:

nissan didn’t issue any recalls for this?

ncrdisabled Submarine vet says:

That other seat could have been repaired but you need a tig welder .my
friend added metal strips to his and it has lasted 2.5 years and 45k miles.
I have heard that mig or arc welding will not hold.

Zhu8 says:

Why didn’t you weld the hole closed the first or second time?

future20741 says:

How do you take the back of the seat off? What a waste of time!

mengel420 says:

My seat failed in 2009 where the bracket needed to be rewelded.
Unfortunately, it has broken again. I took it to the Nissan dealership and
they quoted me $1350 for a new seat. They said that I HAD to get a new seat
due to liability (my loan is through my bank though). They’ll give me the
keys, but they wont reweld it. I’m glad that I found this video. The
information posted by others seems invaluable to me at this point. Meineke
said they’ll try to fix it. I’ll remind them of the x2 weld
