One doesn’t really fail more than the other. We carry new window regulators
on our website 1aauto.com 888-844-3393

1A Auto Parts says:

If the regulator looks fine, and the power window motor has power to it but
doesn’t work, then the motor may have gone bad. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393

A Willis says:

How do you know if its the motor or the regulator that needs to be replaced.

dinuguan510 says:

Which has the higher failure rate, the motor or the regulator? They’re sold
separately, they only stock the regulator at the local Pep Boys, which
tells me the regulators fail more often.

Tony Consolo says:

OK, no laughing now, but currently, window motor is completely dead wtih
window in the full up position. What is the trick to getting the window
halfway down or so in order to start the process?

vq35altima says:

So if the window is stuck up how do you get it down?

Tony Consolo says:

Noticed you started with the window all the way down. Mine is currently
stuck in the full UP position. Do I need to start with it all the way DOWN?

1A Auto Parts says:

You will have to lower the window to access the bolts that hold the window
to the regulator.

1A Auto Parts says:

If the cables are bound up, you may need to free them up so that the window
drops down.

crhayes2 says:

Can you do a video for this same issue on a Nissan Altima 2002? I see you
have a Nissan Altima first generation which stops at 2001. My motor was
making weird sounds for a week and it finally gave out. Front Driver Side

1A Auto Parts says:

Check the wire harness between the door and body of the car for a broken or
frayed wire. That is what could be causing this issue.

elchoch03 says:

How would u know if its the motor or the regulator that is bad? On mine
(drivers front window also) i have to open the door and close it kinda hard
and hold the switch down at same time for the window to lower. Like if
somethings not fully in tact. Then when i wanna raise it up, i have to do
the same open door and close it hard and it’ll start to raise slowly until
it stops not even hallways and then automatically lowers itself back down.
To fully close it, i have to help it up by hand.

Tony Consolo says:

At the risk of sounding not so smart, how do I get the window lowered to
midway if it is stuck in full up position so I can get this started?

JohnPW22 says:

Very helpful video! Many thanks!

1A Auto Parts says:

Unfortunately we are working on videos for other vehicles at this time but
we will keep this in mind for a future one down the road.

putertechne says:

Fist off thanks for the video itwasa great help. just want to note that in
the beginning of the video it says you need a 7mm and 10mm socket, then
once into it you mention an 8mm socket for the window motor…which of
corse is correct.

Young mickey tv says:

You helped me out a lot……but its my back windows that are off track so
I’m not sure if I should just take the whole thing apart or open it and try
to put it back on the track…..never did it before but I’m the type that
likes to watch learn and do it myself for in the future I can help someone
else plus have knowledge on what to do so someone else can’t say its
something else and try to over charge me.

Rus Watson says:

Great video, thanks. When connected directly to the battery the old motor
jumped but wouldn’t turn the gear. I unscrewed the motor from the gear and
put a little oil in it and twisted it around using a spanner until it was
free moving. When I screwed the motor back on, the whole thing worked fine.
Be careful not to let oil draining back into the motor. Then I cleaned up
the contacts in the connecting plug and it went like new. Also one rubber
guide track had come out. Go Nissan!

Orri Henkle says:

So any helpful work on those newer Altima videos?? I have an ’07 Altima,
and trying to figure this whole thing out.

1A Auto Parts says:

If the cables are stuck you may have to loosen them.

aarles159 says:

what could happen if the gear gets loose? is it to hard to put it back?

moses bonal says:

i wanna know, what causes all four windows not going down on a nissan
maxima1996?

1A Auto Parts says:

Check for a blown fuse, if that checks out fine, then check the wire
harness between the door and body of the car for a broken wire. Hope this
helps you out. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393

vq35altima says:

Love the video, thank you all. My car window is stuck all the up also.

1A Auto Parts says:

if the gears are loose you need to replace the window regulator because
they are not adjustable and they are most likely loose from being worn out.

1A Auto Parts says:

These are the videos that we currently have for this vehicle. We’ll add
more as we make repairs. Thanks for watching.
