seems simply enough. I want to put one in my car, if I am correct that
piece youre working on is the area where the rear axle and rear end of the
drive shaft meet correct?

Roberto Ruiz says:

would this be the same on a 1996 caprice, v8 4.3

John Doe says:

when you buy a differential it doesn’t come with the ring gear on, and they
said i don’t need to buy anything else so I’m guessing i take it off my old
diff and put it on the new one?

Vega3841 says:

Kevin great video, I have a quick question maybe you can help. My first
time removing an LSD and I got it removed and exposed the inside gears also
removed the two side clams that hold the LSD in. But what I dint see in the
video was how you removed the two outer adapters that connect to the axel.
I noticed they might be connected thru the inside of the LSD n I can’t
remove it as easy Like you showed. How did you take that apart? I’m balls
deep over here covered in LSD oil and grease let me kn

h2v7simon says:

how do you install and uninstall the axels?

sugoi_S14 says:

Just pulled a J30 diff for my S14. VLSD

kevin122780 says:

@MrMambosky well on a lsd both wheels will spin when one if the wheels lose
traction, lsd come stock on alot of cars.A welded diff is really a open diff
that you have a shop weld the gears inside and by doing this both wheels
will spin all the time.If you are going to be driving your car alot on the
streets, you would want to find a good Viscous or Clutch Type LSD so you
don’t have any problems with tire wear and spinning out in the rain,But if
your going to drift alot and you don’t have alot of

BigZnz says:

hey bro hows it , i have a question.. i want to put my vlsd center into my
open diff 180sx.. is it possible to remove the ring gear off the open
centre and bolt it on to the vlsd center to retian the same ratio as
before? eventually il buy a nismo lsd but will this work in the mean time?
also do i need to worry about backlash? thanks

shokaae86 says:

great vid man

Wessel12 says:

I just bought a used Kaaz 2wa LSD wich sat in a stock s13 open diff. But
when I took it apart the spacers where lined up different. (big one on the
left, 2 small ones on the right) Is the spacing allways the same? Because I
am going to put the Kaaz in my ABS s13 diff (EU-spec) and I don’t know how
to space it up.

Awesome! Super helpful!

franktib says:

great advice! thanks!

kevin122780 says:

@Vega3841 the locking ring is located on the part of the axle that is
inside if the differential.when you get it out you will see it……No way
in hell you will be able to yank it out of there. It is a bitch to get it
out, just try a big flat head screwdriver and maybe tap it with a hammer to
get it out…don’t give up,it will comeout!!!

masypoosays says:

how much fluid do you usually add.

Corin Rowe says:

I’ll probably never do this, but nice video!

tehbabes says:

Hmm can I do what you did in this video and take the j30 guts and put em
into the s13 diff? That would make my day!

Adam Le Mieux says:

how’s it going? i drive a 2008 sentra se-r specV and i was planning on
doing this same mod to my car since i didn’t get the fully loaded version
and lack this. i don’t know too much about cars but i am a pretty quick
learner and not a complete ignoramous when it comes to cars. would i be
able to basically follow this video for my car? 240sx is also a nissan
right? i’m guessing that you were dealing with a fwd car and not rwd?
thanks in advance!

nazze says:

Nice video man! 🙂

Frodo Baggins says:

you should use a torque wrench!

kevin122780 says:

i just use a big flat head and pop it off

kevin122780 says:

@TheGanglyy @TheGanglyy lol well if you take it out yourself,i would say do
both!A good welder will charge you about 50bucks to weld it,so do that 1st
then if you don’t like how it feels save up for a LSD.I say that because a
good used LSD goes for 200-350 and a new one can be upto 600-1500!!I was
very happy with my 1st welded diff when i was 18 :))))

s13nissan1 says:

So if i put an LSD in my oped diff s13, Do all the open diff CV axles and
the drive shaft bolt up with the LSD or does it take a different drive
shaft and axles? And can it be done without unbolting the drive shaft, in
other words doing it under the car without removing the whole (hog head)?

Terry Huynh says:

@19Dk95 Rain does nothing to the welds, it’s just that if you don’t know
how to drive in the rain with a welded diff, the rear might just kick out
in corners. As for LSD vs welded diff, if you have the money go lsd, if
you’re on a budget like me go welded. Don’t do viscous.

Jimmy Moore says:

mey bro wheres your shop at in d ville i want to come check it out

mYsSsAnDy says:

what about the fluids. what kind and how much…

dizztruckshin says:

some good info,thanks man

xx4x4x4 says:

“You know people always want to start shit about something” HAHA Fucking
Boss! Keep up the awesome vids!

nai Z says:

thanks for the video would it be the same to install a lsd diff for a 350z?
somebody told me they have to use a dial tool or something like that or
else the lsd would blow is that true?

tehbabes says:

@kevin122780 well I actually got a j30 diff and axles from craigslist for
90 bucks and I’m in the middle of that at the moment, reading online that
I’m going to need 2 longer bolts and and something about replacing rubber
bushings that’ll rot out with metal washers so the diff doesn’t falling off
later on… damn it what a headache..

bmxer569 says:

Wow!! Couldnt have posted this video ony later. I just got my nizmo 2 way
lsd in the mail friday.

ShootsDenBrah says:

good vid, stickied lol

XBobMarleyX13 says:

Srry dude 240sx is rwd

earlingy says:

Are the 5 bolt and 6 bolt output shafts interchangeable? I found an LSD in
the case with 5 bolt output shafts, but I have 6. I could swap the
internals or I could swap the output shafts. I know I could get J30
halfshafts but if I could swap internals to my open diff that would be
cheaper…

Daniel Ralley says:

Fantastic video, thanks! Whats your opinion on shimming a VLSD in an s14 or
350z for example? Overall to get it to lock harder and still be
manageable-ish as a daily driver. Would you do a video on this?? Thanks
again man 😀

Darren van Langenberg says:

Can you put a 350z/g35 diff in an s13 housing?

kevin122780 says:

@AdrenalineJunky17 hey,yes it is mirrored because of me using my laptop.

kevin122780 says:

Im not advising anything if you have a brain and you want to torque them
down to spec, then do that…Ive done it just like in the video more then 20
times and never had a problem…But to tell someone that’s trying to help
that he sucks because its not all the info YOU want, makes you a
asshole…so if you want all that specs go buy a Nissan service book.BTW
thanks for watching my videos

Ivan Reyes says:

Hey nice vid very helpful but i have a couple question…im tryn to reach u
via email, but my foje wont let me. Can u send me your email if u dont
mind, thanks

StancedDub says:

your tightening the bridge bolts anti-clockwise? what the actual fuck?

kevin122780 says:

money,a welded is the way to go.With a welded diff your car will kick the
wheels out easy and it will feel the same every time and make your drift
more predictable, but be careful when driving in the rain.I hope this helped
you:)

BruzedHQ says:

hey i like your vid, and it inspired me to get under the car and get shit
done… i recently bought a 90 s13 240sx hatch, along with it came
installed coilovers, an s14 vlsd with drive shaft NOT installed… and get
this, a set of wheels and tires with one of the rears smoked off and
exploded. i think i’v done enough research do continue the work.. as i
already have my stock driveshaft and stock open diff out.. and oils drained
in both; just gotta stop by NAPA tomorrow so i can finish the swap.

kevin122780 says:

Lol well instead of you saying thanks for the video you say i suck? You are
right every fastener has a torque REQUIREMENT and i think on this its
112lbs of torque (not sure)..I think you shouldn’t be so fucking lazy and
try searching and not want people to hand feed you.I did the video for
people that may not have a torque wrench..So if you dont like the
video,dont watch it…

AdrenalineJunky17 says:

Hey man, quick question. Is the video mirrored or are those bolts actually
reversed? It looked like you were turning them to the left to tighten them.
Great informational video tho dude!
