2007-2012 Nissan Sentra Cabin Air Filter Replacement -EricTheCarGuy

2007-2012 Nissan Sentra Cabin Air Filter Replacement -EricTheCarGuy

This cabin air filter replacement video applies to 6th generation (2007-2012) Nissan Sentras. Some information in this video will apply to other Nissan models.

I probably made this one a little more difficult than it needed to be. Had I removed the gas pedal, things would have gone a lot easier. You might consider doing that with your vehicle to make things easier.

Doing this yourself can save you a great deal of money. Not to mention it will help keep the air inside your vehicle free from contaminants.

The average replacement interval is every 15K, sometimes as low as 10K based on the air quality where the vehicle is being used.

I got lucky. My neighbor has a 2012 Sentra with 112,000 miles and the cabin filter has never been changed. I looked the first article about it, and it showed the filter behind the glove box( first stroke of luck). I get the glove box out and I don't see how to remove it. I definitely didn't want to break anything, so I looked hard and long at the replacement filter. I could see it sat in a slot at the bottom and there was a snap at the top, but I wasn't sure how to pop it off at the top. Then I saw a plastic flange about two thirds of the way up the filter that didn't seem to have anything really to do with the strength of the filter case. So, I thought maybe this would be a good grip for my pliers. That was it. It pulled right out…sort of. Just like the ones that pull out from the driver's side, it gets trashed coming out, but goes in very easy (second stroke of luck). This car may have been a mid-year change for the complaints about the old style. The VIN definitely states it is a 2012. So, which ever one you have, no need to check it, just replace it. There is no way to pull it without destroying it.

Hi friend. Wanted to know if you could help me out. I have an 07 Nissan Sentra 2.0 automatic. I am getting horrible mpg! I get about 8-10mpg both in the city and hwy. I've done just about everything you can think of to get it to work. I have new spark plugs, air filter, fuel pump, tires, battery, cat converter, cleaned MAF sensor, I've even tried fuel system cleaner and lacquer thinner in my tank. I norm put 87 gas in my tank because that's what it says in book. Nothing still hasn't changed. The manual says I'm supposed to get 24 city/30hwy and I'm getting nowhere near that. Please help! TIA

Ryan Carder says:

My car is missing the interior panel that he removed to gain access to the filter. Does anybody know what I need to search for to find it? I've tried to find it but have been in able to.

Jenna Calderon says:

@ericthecarguy hi, I have an issue with my 2008 nissan sentra. Ive taken it to about 5 mechanics and no one can tell me why my horn won't work,my cruise control also stopped working and now the airbag light for the driver side is on too. They have checked the fuses and relays were checked and they were all good. Any advice you might have for me is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

John Doe says:

Start from the bottom and squeeze it in the middle, shimmy it up past the gas pedal. No need to bend it sideways. Once somewhat in, the edge will stick out. Squeeze or bend that a bit and get it fully inside and it will expand to it's normal shape.

Thank you for the assistance sir!
