being busted broke this is a hell of a lot better than the dealership
option! Cheers!

Dylan Gabel says:

So why would you move your knock sensor on top of the intake? Just so its
easier to replace down the road??

Matt Handley says:

Huge thanks to you Dan, this worked like a charm for my 2000 Xterra 3.3L!
MPG restored! To the naysayers on here, I got 3 things for you: 1) Check
your wiring & workmanship, you probably didn’t follow the procedure right
(if you don’t snip the right wire that looks the same as the correct one, &
that would not be good). 2) You have another problem instead of, or in
addition to the KS. 3) try a different spot for the KS; on my Xterra I
could’ve put it at a few spots on the intake manifold.

Jesus Valdes says:

be careful with the blade!

Tawana Kinney says:

Thanks for the video, I have a 2000 Nissan Xterra, do you think these
instuctions will work?

Dan Russell says:

Glad it helped!

vpelayo89 says:

@Dan Russell same modification on a 2000 Nissan Exterra?

Dan Russell says:

Very likely, yes.

Dan Russell says:

Thanks for sharing – that info could help others.

Roberto Gonzalez says:

Very helpful video, thanks

Kevin McNamara says:

Thanks for making this video! I followed these instructions on my 1998
Pathfinder and passed emissions after doing so. The only problem I had was
that the harness I bought was not color-coded. I just guessed on the cables
and got it wrong the first time. It immediately gave a code on the ECU (but
no check engine light). Switching the cables fixed it.

JPLIKES2SK8 says:

I did the relocation and whenever its a cold start it runs fine then when
it gets up to operating temperature its runs like crap and under any load
its misfiring as if its on a rev limiter and its 100xs worse than before
does anybody have any suggestions…..I don’t want to pull the intakes off
and just replace it the right way seeing as I have already cut the wires.
Any help would be appreciated seeing as I have a 1200 mile drive in a few
days

B1L4ncer says:

fixed this using your video thanks! Another issue after repairing this
knock sensor my Over drive starts flashing once i start the car. Any ideas?

66dylanashley says:

is it just length for the reason to use the max harness?? i already have
the path harness and i can make it work theres enough wire. on the nissan
forum says they say its because the fuel injector wires go to the same
conduit, but im not cutting them i think its because on the forum they
change the pins on the end Dan cuts off so they can use both ends

Gabriel Sande says:

Hey Dude nice vid!, very clever and time saver, but next time watch your
fingers!,as you know, never hold by hand what you are cutting!, thank you
for the tip!

Michael Mendez says:

Will this work with a 2000 nissan frontier crewcab 4wd and how do i know
where to look for ks harness. Would it be in the same location as your
video? Please help as i am needing to replace my ks soon

Dave VanTol says:

will this work on a 94′ pathfinder? I can’t seem to find the knock sensor
harness on the vehicle? What do you think Dan

Dan Russell says:

Some of the symptoms of a bad knock sensor are bad MPG, engine vibration
and lousy acceleration. The best way to be sure it’s the knock sensor,
however, is to verify the OBD2 code says P0325.

Kenny Wagner says:

doesn’t this just totally eliminate the knock sensor all together which can
lead to bad gas milage & not knowing when you have a serious engine
problem? My x-roomy is a mechanic & told me that the gas nowdays is so
shitty, to much ethanol, if you use 89/91 octane for a few tanks it will
not kick sensor, just have someone w/ a scanner reset check engine
light/code

Dan Russell says:

Glad to hear it!

Pablo Ramirez says:

Just finished this on my 1998 Pathfinder. Worked exactly as described! No
more check engine light and passed smog! Mechanic quoted $600 to replace
knock sensor. These instructions cost less than $100 including a code
reader off eBay. Thanks for the great video!

Dan Russell says:

@ItzTrillSon Yea, it should. Let me know how it goes. I believe the part
numbers are exactly the same, but you could take a look at RockAuto to
cross-reference.

Dan Russell says:

Hi Karl, the bolt I use to mount the replacement knock sensor is already
attached to the top of the engine. It’s holding a bracket in place. Watch
the video again and you should see where I pull it out.

Dan Russell says:

@dj7227 sorry you had that experience. It worked fine for me and others
that posted the original forum solution. After the fix, my gas mileage was
still in the 15-18 mpg range. What are you getting?

Karl Ni says:

Thanks for the post, Dan. Do you happen to have a link to where I can buy a
knock sensor bolt? (The one that you use in your video.)

Cheryl Harrison says:

This video saved me about $450 at the repair shop. I was able to buy the
knock sensor on Amazon for $27, a knock sensor harness at the dealer for
$28 and in less than 30 minutes installed it all myself. I’m happy to say
that my Pathfinder is running great, and finally passed inspection! Thanks
SO much!

Neary Sam says:

thnaks for hte showing og this car

Robert K Cleland says:

Man was at my Shop today, he did this on a 2002 Frontier with V6 & worked.
I’m gonna try it on a customers car next week.

tjhamilton1 says:

i went to nissan.com and they said the knock sensor harness wire would not
fit my 99 nissan pathfinder vehicle is that a problem? or should i just
order the harness wire and knock sensor anyways and relocate it?

Mike polish says:

Can I do this for a 2002 xterra non supercharged? I just went to my
mechanic and he wants $800 to replace the knock sensor. Can you help?

H2invegas says:

This guy is completly clueless never do this people when sensor goes bad
and it will all nissan models the knock is junk. It will not turn the check
engine light on so fuk let timing retard a little when sensor goes bad no
biggi make up for pingin so dont do this video this guy should go to auto

aromlevoful says:
