Those this vehicle has a inside cabin filter?

mikemarvelous says:

I think you skipped the part about getting the 2 halves together after inserting the new filter. Such a pain in the a$$!!!!

Just did mine and there's a very easy way to close the box up. Put the air filter in, close the box as much as it will close, then draw marks on the new filter on either side of the latches. Then take the filter out and carve these notches out with a box knife without cutting yourself and install.

Any vids installing cold air intakes?

adam cz says:

He skip showing the clips on the bottom they are a pain in the ass.

tortisecorpse says:

Spent about 15 minutes struggling before this video thank you very much! The install is easy with a 2011 outlander sport following this. Thanks again!

Ashley McCallum says:

This is far more complex than shown in the video.
These cars are heaps of shit.

DJ Yoes says:

This was so much worse than how they show it in this video, im still not convinced I got mine in right after battling it for over 30minutes. I think the proper way it to unbolt everything connected to the cleaner and then unlatch it and pull it up and away as you split apart the two sides to the airbox. Mine is so close to the wiring harness and part of the air cleaner housing was scraping across the wires while I was trying to pull it apart to put it in, so I had to be extra extra careful not to do that. Ive installed K&N FIPKs and countless other stock airfilters and this is hands down the worse and nowhere near as simple as this video suggests. Also you might spend a second just to show which side has the square corner and which has the round end because it hard to make that out on the box just by looking at its outer shell.

242atomblack says:

That’s a hell of a lot more graceful than it went for me. A chisel and 45 minutes later success.

T Rock says:

Doesn't come out that easy lol

I have two 2014 Sports

This has been noted as the worst fiasco ever to work on.
I did mine now. I purchased the "GKI AF10910 Air Filter ." I walked up to the air box, undid two clips, popped it open, with a really bad arthritic wrist and pulled the old filter out and put the new one back in the air box and closed it after squishing the old one in place and put the clips back to their original position. I did nothing else and my cars are low mileage and the box did not spread as much as the video but I am puzzled what all the nonsense is about.
I suspect other makers filters are not designed like the one above and they make this about impossible as I have seen Amazon offer others like in standard cars. Maybe I got lucky but I suspect it is an
issue with other filters on the market. After 25,000 miles my original filter wasn't bad looking. it was as easy as the video showed it to be. Thanks.

Just took me all of 5 minutes to replace with a Purolator air filter. Tight fit but not hard at all like everyone is making it out to be.

Paco Bacchus says:

It is not easy to get it close back. But first it is important to place the air filter into the right side housing and after the one with the latches.
Also you can release the square tube get into the right side housing in order to get a better freedom of movement.
Well I have just did it in 6 minutes in a Mitsibishi ASX
Filter Mitsibishi Bosch S0353 F 026 400 353 / Mann C25654 / Purflux A1415
MITSUBISHI OEM 1500A513

May this model would be easier to insert and close back.

I noticed you skipped the video over the most difficult part…that is closing the 2 pieces of the clam shell. That requires an act of congress. I took mine to a quick lube last week and they couldn't get it back closed. They didn't have the right filter and put the old one back which took 3 men an hour to do. I ordered one online and went to put it in today however it was more like fighting a barracuda than changing a filter…The filter doesn't fit easily back and the thickness makes getting the 2 halves back together again in order to snap it up. Mine took vise grips. Queer design to say the least on an otherwise flawless car.
