Hi Brian I watched your video and did my mitsubishi lancer’s timing belt and everything was timed (also did spark plugs and tensioner) now when the cars being floored to get on the freeway and gets up to 3000 rpm a slight vibration occurs. What could be the cause you think?

briansmobile1 says:

I think I used a pry bar on each side and wiggled it off.

Guillaume-Eric Paquette says:

How did you get the harmonic balancer out? did you use the universal tool ans if yes how did you do it?

georgio vongiovani says:

could you post a video on how to replace the timing belt on a mitsubishi 3.0 v6 sohc, nobody seems to like that engine because i could find anything. please help a brother out

julesofdew says:

Thanks, Grunchy. A week after someone replaced the timing belt on my son’s lancer, the right front tire lug bolts gave way on the freeway and the tire came off! Now the shop is saying they didn’t take that tire off to change the timing belt. Boooo, I say. Boooo. Thank God no one was hurt, but the car needs a lot of work and no one will fess up…frustrating.
Thanks again for your input. Have a good one! Jules

Grunchy says:

It seems every 2.0L engine needs the front tire taken off, plus the inner fender, plus that engine mount – all that stuff removed – in order to get at the timing belt.

Grunchy says:

Question for you, shortly after changing the timing belt and water pump on a 2004 lancer, the car lurched and stalled and threw a code for the front crankshaft sensor. Then it started right up and purrs like a kitten. Think it could be that crank cover with integrated cable?

julesofdew says:

Great video! Did you have to take off the right front tire?

Earl Owens says:

My timing belt broke, can you tell me how much for repair?

tdc747 says:

Can u make video on how to change head on 98 montero sport.cant find anything anywere on the net,on how to do.

natara oard says:

If I replaced timing belt and water pump and water pump was bad is it necessary to take all of that off just to replace water pump on 2002 mitsubishi lancer

Hector Araba says:

Excellent Video. Useful information to DIY. Thanks a lot…

Ron Noseworthy says:

Great video. I used it to replace the crank pos sensor. upon removing the lower timing cover I noticed some teeth were missing on the timing belt. would I turn the crank and cam shafts clock wise to align the timing marks? Do those marks mean i am TDC on piston#1?

Mitchell Lamb says:

Yes I just started this today. I wish he had a head cam on while taking off all the pulleys and power steering

Mitchell Lamb says:

chain or strap wrench

clwhitener says:

Can you make a video on how to install that alternator/motor mount bracket? I just can’t figure it out…

olsenaj1 says:

hey…you said you had a video on the harmonic balancer pulley…I can’t seem to spot it…is there anyway you could point me in the right direction? Thanks.

Brian Mason says:

rotate the engine how exactly? How should I tighten the crank pulley bolt?

deepsquat600 says:

I would love to click on the ads brian ..but I never see any??

briansmobile1 says:

Yes. Check the timing marks for proper alignment and check for proper belt tension on both sides of the tensioner- rotate the engine a few times to make sure the marks return ok and the belt doesn’t skip.

Balmer Pereira says:

Is there a way to check that the timing belt has been installed correctly before replacing the covers, drive belts, ect?

manuelbou says:

this is not a how to, simply a “this is where im at and these are parts”

foggywoods says:

How do you keep the crankshaft pulley still to give the bolt the 134 ft-lb torque it requires?

It just spins. I even tried to get everything back together and hoped the other two belts would help hold it.

Chris D. says:

p.s. the “G” key doesn’t always work lol

Chris D. says:

Hi Brian..

You wouldn’t happen to have a rough list of tools you used to do this with, would ya?
What is the book rate on the water pump/timing belt?
I’m building up the balls to do this.. I just wish you went into the beinnin of what order you took thins apart..

Thanks!

DO U KNOW HOW TO CHANGE THE TRANSMISSION FILTER ON THE 2002 MITSUBISHI LANCER GDI

briansmobile1 says:

Please try again. This question isn’t quite making sense to me. Thanks.

emery1329 says:

on the timing marks after they been marked prior to belt removal how to if anything is moved or disturbed. do you spin or turn for correct replacement thanks, brian j

briansmobile1 says:

It has to be lined up with the woodruff key or roll pin depending on the model.

Nick Lee says:

I got that car back (02 lancer) not running geat and drinking fuel , my question here is dose that exiter ring need to be in a (timed position) ?

Danielle Dungca says:

how much did u spend for parts and what did you have to buy? did you do a coolant flush too and how long did it take you?

briansmobile1 says:

Gates.

NETWizzJbirk says:

Did you use an EPDM belt or one of those crappy Neoprene ones?

briansmobile1 says:

You’re welcome!

Nick Lee says:

Awesome video , the one thing you did not mention that made all the differance was that exciter ring you mentioned once , I put this thing together and took it apart 8 times not able to get it started , then figured out that exciter ring needs to be in a certain place in order to run because it runs threw that crank sensor .. Don’t get me wrong this video was helpful and I will look for more from you , Thanks !!

Nick Lee says:

Out of 200ish timing belts I have done in interference motors , I have only ran into about 3 that it had bent the valves .. So what I am getting at is it is always worth it to throw a belt in it ..

nanaharashuyajp says:

Everything turned out great and it’s actually running smoother than ever!
