Fixed my Mitsubishi WD-60735 using this. Got a brand new chip and took an
hour with minimal tools (Phillips screwdriver, Needle nose Pliers and a
Jewelers Phillips head Screwdriver). Took a lot of pictures but didn’t need
to refer to them, this was easier than replacing a computer board.
I replaced DLP Chip to my Samsung TV. the problem is the screen won’t fill
all monitor. I tried to lose or tie some screws, but nothing happen. Any
suggestions.??
I have 61 inch Samsung bought in March 2010,called Samsung last Thursday
Sept. 12 2013 and Service Tech came Sept 17 2013 one time fix …FREE!!!!!!
Had about 10 dots got home just as he finished and works great no dots!
Also i had no warranty!
When I plugged the TV to the wall outlet only the orange light in front
came on it blinked status. I went back in put the old chip in to see if I
had received a bad chip. Same problem. Then, I went in and followed the
large black plug coming from the board to the inside of the TV/HDMI side. I
pushed on those thinking maybe something I cannot see became unsecured.
Finally, I watched a different video. The guy said EVERYTHING has to be put
back before it will work, so I put on the back cover.
Once they arrived, I gathered all my tools and setup a video camera on a
tripod. In case I forgot where some screws went I could review my work. The
disassembly was very easy. The most time consuming was all the dust that
had accumulated. Be sure to have an air compressor or vacuum to clean your
parts. I did run into a problem. I’m still not sure what the trouble might
have been. After installing the chip and putting everything back together I
turned the TV on before securing the back panel.
Its amazing how often people throw easily fixable stuff out. Some dolt in
my neighborhood trashed a perfectly good Toshiba 56MX195, all it needed was
a new color wheel, 80$ on eBay and an easy fix to boot.
I have a 2009 Mitsubishi 73 inch DLP, WD-73737. My screen appeared recently
with one white dot. I could live with it. Then, a couple weeks two white
dots. I could live with it. Two more weeks add another dot. I realized this
is about to be the end of my big TV just before superbowl weekend. I
googled found this video. I thought hell, I’m going for it. I believe I can
do this my self. I went to Shop Jimmy’s online and purchased a new bulb and
a new DLP chip.
I went to replace the DLP chip and when I turned the circuit board upside
down the ribbon cable on the back disconnected. It seemed to be simply
glued on. I assume that I am screwed unless someone out there knows how to
reattach this cable
i would just like to thank you for this very comment. i thought i had
damaged my television when i was disassembling it to test the power supply
and thanks to this, i feel GREAT about continuing again (coincidence i
stumbled across this video as i’m also doing the dlp chip on a different
set)
I’m a female & had this problem with my Mitsubishi tv so I ordered the dlp
chip & tackled the issue. This video was ok-not enough explaining as the
guy worked & you don’t get to see if his tv worked in the end. One thing
that I didn’t see in the video that I had a problem with in the end is
making sure the “ribbon cable” was reconnected to the board. This caused my
tv to have sound & no pic. But once I connected this “ribbon” it worked
beautifully.
I have a WD-65734, I called Mitsubishi and they said that they would pay
the $225 for the part but I have to pay for the service fee $200+. I asked
for them to send the part and I would do it myself, how can I make them
understand this? please email me beckidoug@yahoo.com
After reinstalling the new chip a second time, making sure ALL cables were
properly secure, and securing the back cover, it came on to my surprise.
With a new bulb and new chip it is like having a new TV. Thank you very
much for the video. Just remember to gather all your tools, have plenty of
space to work, and make sure the wife and kids are out of the house for a
couple hours.
I did the same replacement on my own WD-65734 last night, but had FAR more
stars than two (closer to 100) 😉 It did well considering over 19,000
power-on hours!
