steven277089 says:

Ive seen one wire power wire i think were do i hook up the ground wire

Esqu3l3to says:

I didn’t as the LED light don’t use that much power and I’ve never had any
issues, but if you prefer you can always add an in-line fuse for the lights.

mrme40 says:

Wouldn’t it be bad to run two power sources? Like, what if the headlights
were on and you had the door open? Wouldn’t having both of them run at the
same time cause problems?

Jeskillin says:

Does the car have to be on for the lights to work? I’m asking because I
want to install lights outside of the car under the sideskirts. I want a
lights to light up the ground when I unlock the car. I also want them to
light up the ground when I open a door.

Jett Plane says:

What if I want all lights to turn on even if one door is opened? Where do I
ground it to?

Esqu3l3to says:

@usmc2209153 I dont see where on the bottom of the door they would go as
there is no space at the bottom, I’ve thought about placing them in the cup
holder by the speaker but i dont know yet. How did you do yours?

lexusfan100 says:

ya i want to paint the tail lamps ..i want to to it red paint..do u know
how to do it..or better way of doing it. and what kind of paint spray to
use..thanks

lexusfan100 says:

hah i got it ..bought a spray can and it worked had to prep the area with
sand paper n then sprayed..now it looks just the way i want

lexusfan100 says:

@esqu3l3to its a 2000 lexus es300 tail light..if u google that for rear
turn signals indicator part…utube is not allowing me to post a link of a
pic…

usmc2209153 says:

Yo buddy you should go to like an auto store n get the led strips and put
them on the bottom of the door and wire them up so when.u open the door the
ground lights up all around you that would look sick I just did it on.my
car today it matches my blue neons on the inside lol I wired them up to the
dome light lol

lexusfan100 says:

ya i tinted my foglights with yellow..since i already had HID on low
beams…ithose fog lights look kool but my next step is to tint spray the
tail lights too

Esqu3l3to says:

I would install a rocker switch to either one so that it would only sent
power when you wanted to, otherwise I would keep your interior lights on
one power source like I did and a different wiring all together for when
you want them to come on when you turn your lights on. You are likely to
have issues trying to have different “ways” to turn the same lights

lexusfan100 says:

you should do one =how to tint the headlights… :P..it will look really
good

Esqu3l3to says:

No the car doesn’t need to be on, you can wire them like I did or find a
different power source just ground them to the doors and they will come on
when you open your door.

Cliff Chatfield says:

Great DIY. Thanks!

jizzle0013 says:

Great vid man! What if I want my lights to come on when the doors open,
like yours, but I ALSO want them to come on when I turn my headlights on?

zack schofield says:

@lexusfan100 gotta be careful with tinting the headlights, i got pulled
over for just a very light coating of Night Shade on mine. Im in
Pennsylvania so i dont know what the rules are where you live but in PA
tinted headlights are illegal. break lights are fine tho.

glowacz56 says:

you show how to run the power on one side, how do i do it on the passenger
side? do i splice the power wire from the driver side and run a wire to the
passenger side

Esqu3l3to says:

@AzznJett for that you will need to ground each light to each door so no
matter which one you open they will all come on.

Esqu3l3to says:

@lexusfan100 I tinted my original tail lights with nite shade, I didnt do a
video of it but I am going to do one of the entire car again since my
previous one got deleted somehow by youtube.

Esqu3l3to says:

@lexusfan100 no worries and any other questions just ask, glad I could help

lexusfan100 says:

haha u know i finally got i!!!!! thanks a lot..but a weird thing happened
..ya i did use the ground as the door sensor for back passengers. but for
the source i couldnt use front LEDs that i already had too..because
everytime i connected it the back LED footwell started behaving odd and
would remain on no matter if all the doors are shut and the key is off . so
i used the trunk opener as source because that was close enough is terms of
distance..so now when i open any back door BOTH LED lit up.

Esqu3l3to says:

thanks, what you can do is run 2 power wires. one like similar like I did
for when you open your doors and one from your headlights so they come on
at the same time.

Esqu3l3to says:

@lexusfan100 paint your tail lights? what color are they now?

Esqu3l3to says:

you do the same on the passenger side, what I did was I ran two wires from
my power source (dome lights) one to the drivers side and the other to the
passenger side.

Esqu3l3to says:

I ran one power wire per side (driver/passenger), your grounds are the door
sensors. ground each light to the door sensor that I point out in the vid

Esqu3l3to says:

the other side of your wire has to go to your power source, you can use the
same wire you used for your front LED or run a separate one for each one of
the back ones. What I did with mine was to run one each side all the way to
the bottom of the front seat.

lexusfan100 says:

hi i have a q ..i got the LEDs to work fine for the front doors independent
but for the back doors there are door sensors (in the door jam)..so how do
i do that ..the LED has two wires. so ground goes into the door sensor and
the other wire in to where?? i used the courtesy door lights in front doors
but i have no courtesy door lights @ the back two doors. The back door
sensor has only one wire coming out right. help me!!!!

lexusfan100 says:

but i am happy with it anyways..thanks a lot mann.. i didnt know the door
sensor was ground because i did connect the source and ground and played
around with the door sensor to see if it works,,but after watching ur video
it made a lotta sense ..thanks again!!!
