How to replace 2011 Mercury 8 hp 4 stroke water impeller? newer model
I didn’t see any video for this model, so posting it to help others. This is a relative new 2011 Mercury outboard. Newer model probably will follow this same procedure. I used Quicksilver Part # 47-803748Q01, but you can also use Mercury impeller part # 47-803748K01
3 easy steps to remove and replace the water impeller:
1. Loose the bolt on the left side in the mid section. Don’t remove the screw.
2. Remove the 4 bolts using #10 open wrench
3. Disconnect the connecting rod in the front of the shaft using 2 pliers
New impeller has a small thin key, don’t lose it. You can also reuse the old key.
Please subscribe! I am going to show you how to connect this kicker motor to my Johnson 90 hp so I can steer this motor using my boat steering instead of steering it from the tiller handle. I will build a throttle control using Arduino Uno 3 so I can use a potentiometer to radio dial the speed faster or slower or idle from my captain seat at the boat helm. Arduino Uno 3 will be programmed to control a 12 volts DC servo motor (mounted inside the mercury outboard to pull and push the throttle arm using steel cable. The programming will allow me to push a button to create different trolling speed pattern so I can let the arduino uno 3 microcomputer to control the speed of the motor instead of me turning the tiller handle from the back seat of my boat!
