I had some fuel problems with my 9.9 4 stroke outboard. I found out that is was a loose screw in the fuel pump. At first i through it was a clogged fuel line but it wasn’t. Carburetors are good too.
Smptoms: After priming the fuel bulb the engine can start up and idle but about 1 minute later is will cut out. While it is running the engine will cut out faster depending on speed. So you’ll have to manually pump the bulb every 15 seconds to keep the engine running.

60 hp mecury idles on high speed. runs at full throttle. going from idle to throttle up bogs and dies unleds keep pushing choke. carbs rebuilt last year. whats the deal
Man, i was just in a salmon derby and first day it my 8hp was doing this… Second day we had to hit the tank primer every 15 seconds… I taking the fuel line off tonight and seeing if I have the same issue, I had a feeling it was the fuel pump causing a problem… Thanks for the video
I have a 40 hp Suzuki 2009 2stroke starts ok ,when it's put in forward gear ,it stalls ,unless you push the leaver very slowly
I didn't have fuel to the pump it was the Connector where the tank hose plugs in held in by one screw pull the connector out the front of bottom cowling.
I'm buying this engine in a couple of months for a 12" V hull. I was looking if I could see the idle set screw, as I expect to need to adjust it. Great video.
Awesome job. Crazy a small screw. Should be a name on a sticker on the block somewhere on the engine. The tech that signed off on that motor. Avoided a big repair bill.
