I have an older 80s Johnson 25 hp. There’s no fuel filter that I have found. I just pulled the tank out , flushed it and reinstalling it with some new lines. It’s on an older 16 John boat . Can I put a filter on the hose at the tank or should the filter be past the fuel pump?
I have the same engine, replaced fuel filters spark plugs, fuel water separator. The engine starts first time idles and we have a 2km no wake zone before we allowed to throttle up. Apply full throttle and she bogs down and then slowly gets up to speed, it doesn't happen every time. We can go for lunch start up and go no problem open throttle and she goes and then other times she will bog down.
im having the same issue. its spitting gas out the fuel filter and looking like its backfiring. how do i change out the fuel pump gasket? im trying to look at videos on how to replace the gasket but all i see is the entire fuel pump replacement.
I have an 85 mercury 2 stroke 4cyl 75hp and when I start it up it takes off to full throttle in neutral, any ideas? Clean carbs, fuel hose from tank to motor replaced
I have the exact same model. Its a beast. So far the only major problem I had was the stator dying on me (slowly) out at sea. Struggling home on 2 cylinders and using an ungodly amount of fuel was hairy. Would love more video on this model.
my exact model outboard dies at full throttle, changed fuel filters and spark plugs and when it dies both fuel filters (clear glass ones) have fuel in them still. I also checked the little fuel pump and it was clean. What could be wrong? It also drags and is sluggish when it dies.
Great video, could I ask if there is any problem on wiring a tachometer to my 15hp 2 stroke (manual start) engine? I was about to adjust the carb and I need to know exactly how much rpm I'm getting..

Mine did that and it was the bottom carb and fuel line was clogged up.

I have the black max 150 and it dies at full power. It will run at idle speed but when you give it throttle it dies and start right back up help..

Are the zip ties normal ?? I just bought a pontoon with the same engine but noticed the zip tires on the hoses
