Alternator replacement 1996 Mercury Grand Marquis

Alternator replacement 1996 Mercury Grand Marquis

Got a surprise this morning… Tammy called on her way to work saying the battery light popped on. Watch as we diagnose and replace the failed alternator for a cost of $133.28. A serious cost savings can be realized by doing the work yourself.

you gotta admit man 8 years on a parts house alternator replacement , that's not bad 3-5 years is usually the best you get out of those. but like my airtec fuel pump in the tahoe sometimes they'll surprise you. seems to me i remember someone telling me the tahoe airtec fuel pump wouldn't last more than a year and i'd be doing that job again. here we are 5 years later and it's still going fine. AHH having to fight the ol drive cycle thing. sounds like someone is having some O2 sensor fun like we had to with momma's Grand Prix. don't forget my special little fix if all else fails it still works. i see you got a new light bright enough to see Venus too bad all you're looking for is your Uranus huh?lmao. another fine fix where no fires got started and no apendages were harmed, it's a good one

Smashing job michael :-D, tammy wont take a risk that might damage her car, some people are just stupid and ignore warning lights.

I dont think the stator/rotor or diode pack would have failed, the regulator and brushes are top of the heap for failure, i used to work in a factory that did alternators, and the above rings true.
We had a daft rule about windings and other similar parts, "If it's brown, it's cooked, if it's black it's fu#k#d."
Sounds silly but often true LOL 😀
