Easier and quicker to remove the component next to where the ir emitter goes surely? No risk of damaging anything with heat gun too
Needless German nightmare technology, a plain metal key lasted the life of the car, was cheap to copy, and worked just as well.
Wouldn't be easier to remove the switch to have room to solder the IR emitter?

I did not realize that (until now in this video) if you use a sharpie to mark a chip, the letters/numbers on the chip will be more readable 🙂
