I’m getting a P0455 code on a 2002 Nissan Xterra. Is the purge solenoid the
same thing as a “purge control valve”?

And do you know if the purge solenoid on a Nissan Xterra opens or closes
when activated? I’d like to test mine the same way you showed. Thanks!

Great video, thanks for sharing.

My Car would’t start today after an overnight of subzero temps, it would
crank but not start, my roommate check under the hood and noticed that one
of the hoses connected to vacuum solenoid was broken and thinks the cold
caused it to snap and thinks that is the problem for why the car won’t
start. Is that a valid reason? or would the car start even with that broken
hose? should we be looking somewhere else? we know the battery isn’t the
issue.

Just had a 2 Fuel pumps installed on my 1997 Dodge Dakota, only to find out
that it could have been my Purge Solenoid causing truck to stall. Can
vehicle stall if the Purge Solenoid is bad? Aslo, when it did stall, it was
hard to start. It would just keep cranking.

liked the video.. I do have a question i noticed that when you were doing
the test with the purge solenoid off the car that when you had voltage you
could blow throw the solenoid, my question is when you do not have voltage
on it when testing it in hand and you blow though it no air should come out
the other side of the tube at all?

Real good video Devon. Awesome demo on showing the vacuum solenoid
function, and the easiest method of testing them. Please let us know of any
good or bad progress you get, by doing investigative mainenance on your 626
– when you can manage it! 🙂

Congrats on the milestone. Good informative video. I don’t even have my old
2.0L probe but I still like watching these. Did you finish your mtx swap
yet?

Stefan Vamos says:

by the way the day u filmed this was my birthday lol

DJDevon3 says:

I demonstrate intake manifold removal in my Head Removal series. It’s not
really hard just time consuming. You need the right tools though such as a
ratchet set with universal joint and a big 1″ wrench to remove the EGR
fitting. Also recommend lots of plastic bags and masking tape. Happy
belated birthday! 🙂

DJDevon3 says:

Step 1: save enough money required for all of the following steps and then
some… 😉

marc solorzano says:

step one blow pipes, step 2 nuetreal drop piece of shit 4 cylinder until it
takes a dump, step 3 bye a good running KLDE / KLZE car thats irther been
crashed or has no papers, step 4 drop in said klde / ze motor and then you
understand what “zoom zoom” means

Stefan Vamos says:

damm u are good to teach out of you experince. i have a mazda 626 gf year
1998. is it difficult to take of the intake manifold, the gasket is broken.

DJDevon3 says:

Haven’t finished getting the parts yet but I’m pretty close. All I need is
the flywheel, shift linkage, and shifter arm. Moving yet again next month
so right now isn’t a good time to be ordering parts or getting into a big
project. This months videos will all be on quick and easy diagnostic stuff
just to keep it interesting until the swap.

Stefan Vamos says:

what exakt model is u mazda

tonygtsr says:

First, thanks for posting this video. I found it to be very informative.
I’m having a problem with my 2002 626 2.0L automatic, that I’m sure is
going to be lengthy. How should I post this on mazda626.net so you can
hopefully take a look?

DJDevon3 says:

Post it in the 1993-2002 I4 Technical Support forum. I’ll definitely see
and respond to it. I’m on that forum about 20 times a day. I see everything
posted there and respond to most posts even on versions of 626’s that I
have no experience with because I own about 20 different 626 factory
manuals with just about every kind of diagnostic procedure that you would
ever need. You’ll be well taken care of at Mazda626.net 😉
