Here is how I changed the head and gasket on my 1992 Mazda B2600i pickup truck. This was the first time I have ever done a head gasket repair, and I have to …

canadacatalyst says:

TheBlankpaiges says:

OMG…You’re the guy who did this? I watched this video like two months ago
after typing in “head gasket” in the search bar…Now it pops up in your
playlist since I’m subscribed because of your motorcycle repair vids. .
.Dun Dun Dun DUNNNNN Small YouTube world – that’s awesome.

Ashton Lanier says:

is the throttle body the same thing as the carburetor?

mrmaxstorey says:

@TheGreatBunghole16 Sounds like you got yourself a pretty good project there

attackonheart says:

my 1998 Honda Passport just overheated yesterday with the new radiator, new
thermostat, new coolant, new water pump that I got replaced a month and
half ago…what could It be? I’ve been noticing bubbling sound in the
dashboard, coolant level have been low twice(got it up to max twice).
Started it twice with radiator cap off to get the air out, still does it
and yesterday it just overheated..Never did b4 with old radiator, please
help…..Thanx.

mrmaxstorey says:

Well unfortunately I cant answer that. When a car overheats and blows the
head gasket, sometimes only the gasket blows. However often, the head
cracks, so that will need to be replaced or repaired. Sometimes too, but
rarely, the block gets cracked, and that will need repair or just replace
the engine. Its impossible to know the extent of the damage until you get
the whole engine apart.

LaShya Johnson says:

@memaxtory is it bad to buy a car with a cracked head gasket?

mrmaxstorey says:

@xXOutbackFordBoysX Good luck man seems like this project has been dragging
on for you. Did you get that tensioner sorted out?

YoungDynasty9193 says:

my honda has a peanut butter type substance in radiator and the overflow ..
but no smoke .. and no overheating even after driving for a hour straight
.. just bought the car .. is it possible that the previous owner changed
the head gasket and dident flush the system? and ideas .. let me know..
thanks

Rattle Can Garage says:

@mrmaxstorey oh um scratch that there um like 17 to 19 and i broke one off
at 21 so know i get to have the fun of drilling a hole in it to put in an
easy out to get it out cause i already had my head torqued down 🙁

Destiny Lamb says:

is there any way to tell your head gasket is shot even if you cant get the
engine to turn over?

tocodelray says:

Haha I love how you’re so chill… I’d be swearing my head off. Thanks for
the video, it’s easy to watch and really helpful – using it for pointers as
I work on my 87 Toyota pickup. Nanaimo, BC

RoC1909 says:

What a fantastic video! My 1995 Mustang LX just blew a head gasket. Instead
of getting it fixed, I just bought a new car 🙂 Let me tell you, it’s not
because I am rich…far from it. It was long overdue that I had a new
vehicle. Anyway, one of my co-workers might delve into this repair and try
and fix it ourselves. Since I know pretty much ZERO about cars, this would
be a fantastic job to learn. Thanks again!

mrmaxstorey says:

no just dont knock any shit in there

LaShya Johnson says:

So as long as I get fix right away the car should be good to go? or will it
always have to be repaired ?

jayjay999111 says:

is that a blue 323?

Gerfall says:

I have the same problem right now. Either bad valve seals or a cracked
head. I’m done with my car now though, fucking unreliable piece of trash.

mrmaxstorey says:

@madwonderland Lol thanks yeah one thing I dont like about expertvilliage
is you gotta watcha million videos to get thru the thing. They are a lot
more professional than I am tho…they teach me stuff too

mrmaxstorey says:

@xXOutbackFordBoysX Charge it up and let me know what happens!

mrmaxstorey says:

Indeed it is

mrmaxstorey says:

@64Albere If the cap is hot to the touch, its probably not safe to remove.
However if the vehicle is still warming up then you can remove it without
any chance of exploding steam

mrmaxstorey says:

not conclusively

mrmaxstorey says:

@xXOutbackFordBoysX Bummer man but they definitely should not have broken
at 21, that is almost nothing, sounds like those bolts were in bad shape
already. See if you can grab the bolts witha vice grip like I did in my
video, mine broke off too on removal

lionvibe270 says:

Dude thank you sooooo much for this video keep it up maan your helping out
a lot of ppl. thaks…

dan ny says:

change the head bolts with a stud kit

the666bud says:

funny how thats engine looks like a toyota r-22 engine

fallen sparrow says:

just chuck this thing over ther, I’ll move this thing here, oh and i’ll
just take out this thing

TheTardis157 says:

That does not sound like fun. I’m guessing he had to pull it out because it
is a boxer engine. Even the spark coil in my car took me over an hour to
replace because there was no room to get a wrench near the bolts. Oh the
joys of an overstuffed engine compartment.

Derek Norman says:

pressure test your coolant system

mrmaxstorey says:

@lionvibe270 No prob man good luck on your rebuild.

Jerick Whiteman says:

Hey bro where do u get the Repair Manuels at?

Colin Watson says:

hi mate i have a vauxhall corsa 1.2 1994, ive recently had the headgasket
done and a new expansion tank cap, when left sitting to tick over and warm
up, after 30mins it will get to about 90 degrees and the coolant will fill
the expansion tank up and start to leak from the cap ive had it in garage
they have said the head is fine and no hydro carbons in the coolant, but i
have an idea that something isnt quite right, any ideas? thanks

Chrysler ThreeOh says:

forget about it!

Johnathan Buggs says:

love the video!

mrmaxstorey says:

Awesome! Glad to have been a part of that process

mrmaxstorey says:

And how would you get the valves to close if you cant get the engine to
turn over?

Garnett M. says:

Sometimes they split between the valves .
