+conchim99 its a non interference engine
No the valves should be ok !!! cause this type of engine stays ok even if
timing Belt cuts just have to re ajust the engine timming sequence and the
belt I say let the belt be tightened by a pro cause you don’t want that
crap to break again hope that helps GOOD LUCK ! With your MPV peace ‘;)

turbo?

HEY THANKS A LOT DOC-D VERY NICE HINTS BACK THERE !!!
Just for info…You can change the valve cover gaskets, well at least the
pass side without pulling the intake manifold. Not easy or fun but not that
hard either. Just be careful and take your time. You will need a variety of
tools as some of the valve cover bolts will be under one of the intake
runners. I only needed to do the pass side so who knows what will happen if
you try to do the other one. Don’t hate me if you try this. lol
@salamander, I’m sure they make all sorts of performance products for this
engine ut I’m to sure why anyone would do that with an MPV
my timing belt broke while i was cruising at 10 miles an hour and many
attempt to restart it but didn’t realize timing belt was gone on my 1996
Mazda MVP van. It is an interference engine. What is the chances of bent
valves? thanks
