Mistake! He said rub oil on gasket. Check to see if RT permatex adhesive
should be added.

Thanks mate…I use to do this job in a few ford laser,now I own a Mazda
1997 original from factory,…..until an Aussie mechanic ruin it.The Mazda
has from factory the cover for al least 10 years and the mechanic fix it
and last only 1 month.With you video will help me to do it,the problem was
he put the after market gasket…( in English or Japanese or German mean
shit) but the Mazda original part is for ever like Ford parts.Thanks very
much.

Good video, but you mean leaking oil not burning it, the only way an engine
will burn oil is with worn rings or valve guides.

No problem. In addition, use a thicker oil. Our cars take both 5W-30 and
10W-30 depending on the season. Use 10W-30 as it is the thicker oil and is
less likely to leak.

Thanks. I use the cheapest oil I can find. Usually Pennzoil 5w-30 or 10w-30
depending on the season. Sometimes I used high mileage oil and sometimes
regular. Non-synthetic. I have changed the oil myself for the past 8 years
every 3000-5000 miles. As for the engine bay, I cleaned it with an
all-purpose cleaner/degreaser.

Ugh those damn keyboard mechanic sites, spreading incorrect info since the
internet begun. Rocker cover gaskets will leak for 2 reasons. 1 the gasket
is just old and rooted which doesnt seal well anymore or 2 an engine is
worn and has bad blow by. That is when compression leaks past the rings and
valve guides and pressurizes the case and head which forces oil out
anywhere it can like gaskets and PCVs. Burning oil happens IN the
combustion chamber and it blows out the muffler as blue smoke.

When engine pressure is low, it burns oil. A leaking valve cover gasket is
something that causes low pressure, causing the oil to burn and leak
concurrently. This is what I read off ehow.com. Another website called
knowswhy.com says the same thing.

On my 1995 Astina 1.8, the manual said that silicone gasket sealant should
be used around the U shaped area where it meets the timing belt. I also
used gasket shellac on the surface of the cover before placing it onto the
new gasket. Seems to be working well, as previously oil was dripping onto
the exhaust manifold cover which caused the smell of burning oil in the car
.

Hello. Yes the valve cover gasket is the solution. It is supposed to keep
oil from getting in the spark plugs as well. I recently replaced the valve
cover gasket on a Suzuki Reno. It had so much oil in the spark plug holes,
but I changed the gasket and the problem was solved.

Hi ! I have Mazda Protege 1999 SE 1.6, I have oil in my sparks plug chamber
on the bottom, that cause the sparks plug to have bad timing, do you think
it can help or I need to change something else.
