I was able to get job done in 1 hour I replaced condenser without removing or opening radiator from top however still supported weight from bottom but that is optional.

do the radiator hoses need to be disconnected in order to remove and replace the condenser?

I've now done a condenser replacement on a 2010 Mazda3 twice. The first time was with the extensive front bumper, etc. removal. The second time I used this method. Wow, what a difference! 45 minutes to get the condenser out and about 30 minutes to get it back in. Thank you, sir!

only issue i would see is doing this under the car by jacks… Maybe using ramps would give you that much needed clearance
