Hey Martin, they are alignment holes, actual holes. There are also holes on
the Mazda but the 3 I believe does not have any alignment holes.

Martin Boyce says:

I just purchased a mazda3 I sedan I’m looking to remove all rear badges.
Seeing you remove the mazda badge I saw 2 indents are those actual holes in
the body or just Moises adhesive spots

Jason Gozjolko says:

I agree the fishing line is a better idea, I didn’t have any around for the
job. I mention the fishing line on the related blog. Thanks for adding it
here.

DystopicEdits says:

Question: why would you want to remove it

Jason Gozjolko says:

That is left over double sided tape, so it is a little bit of foam and
adhesive. I removed it with my finger nail to get the big stuff and then
adhesive remover to get the rest.

smartxalex says:

When I painted mine, all I used was a thin putty knife and a small flathead
screw driver, lacquer thinner to remove the rest of the adhesive. Then, I
neutralized it with dish soap then isopropyl alcohol. Used automotive tape
to restick it.

DrShankenstein says:

for anyone else that watches this… Instead of using the plastic scraper..
Use fishing line. Sliding it behind it and down. It’s quicker and safer.

will haussmann says:

is that glue on the end of that video? is it easy to peel off?

Jason Gozjolko says:

Putting the emblem back on is fairly straight forward. I removed mine to
create a Flying M before putting it back on. The whole process is on my
blog for which this video was part of (check out the blog address in the
description). You will need new 3M double sided automotive tape to put it
back on.

Nathan Daignault says:

way easier way I took off my chevy logos is to just use dentil floss lol
and use a saw motion under whatever your trying to take off. and you just
rub away the glue with your finger. easier and no risk if damaging anything.

Jason Gozjolko says:

Yes it can. It is the same principle.

Andrew Fisher says:

A couple questions.. first off I’m not sure I can get my hands on a heat
gun.. alternatives? Second, my plan is to paint the emblem and put it back
on (I already did this with the front emblem on my 2011 mazda 3 sedan), how
simple would putting it back on be? It was fairly easy with the front
emblem.

Jason Gozjolko says:

The point of using the heat gun is to loosen up the adhesive to reduce the
risk of damaging or breaking something during removal. I have heard some
people using a blow dryer or if it is hot where you are then you could have
the back of your Mazda sit in the sun for awhile.

Jason Gozjolko says:

To paint it, repair it, replace it, modify it, rebadge your car. I did it
to modify it into a flying M

adventuremangrayham says:

I have the same car. Can the same technique be used to remove the word
“Mazda 3” from the tailgate also?

Jason Gozjolko says:

Never thought of dental floss but yeah, similar to fishing line.
