Neil C says:

Looks good. Nice presentation. I will try this with my Maz 6.

pinoyeh says:

I cleaned mine at 120k kms. I just pushed the butterfly vane to full open
and sprayed throttle body cleaner. While holding the vane, i wiped the
insides with a clean rag. Repeat it 2 to 3 times and start the car. Let it
idle for 5 to 10 minutes.

Aukes Media says:

Hey my mazda’s been showing an engine management light from time to time
and seems to be drinking fuel. I used a friend of mine’s code reader and
basically said it was the o2 sensor so I’ve decided to give this a go
before I go and buy one. Does this sound like were talking about the same
thing?

Tom Donohue says:

Thank you so much. I had my battery replaced and the car was running rough.
I cleaned the MAF and the throttle body and it is working great. Your video
was clear and concise and I thank you for it!

Etern1ty2k says:

“upgrade flash”?

You updated the ECU software? or Mapped it?

Adan Mendoza says:

Hi I own a 08 mazada 3 I like to know how to wash the engine , I dont try
to do a deep cleaning just the grease and dirt. Do I need to cover
something or try to dont pour water into some especial wired connections?
Thanks

Daniel Tierney says:

Thanks for the video, my car hasn’t ran this well in a long time.

Chris Sanburn says:

Thanks for this great post! Between your video and some other searching I
just cleaned my throttle body and stopped my Mazda 3 2005 from dying every
time I came to a stop.

RadioA2Z says:

Amazing man, thanks a million for the video. I found a few other vids on
here for mazda throttle body cleaning, but they weren’t specific enough or
they were using mechanic jargon (making it sound more complicated than it
should). I have an 07 Mazda3 touring that has been idling rough for a
couple months now. Had it inspected, and a tuneup and it’s still running
rough. So I’m betting this is the issue. Thanks again!

dajumpman23100 says:

Thanks for the vid. I’ve been trying to find a somewhere to flash my 3 and
everyone tells me there isn’t a program for the 2.0. Where did u go for the
reflash or how did u go about it.

ghostlyrich says:

had it done at a mazda dealership

kevin martinez says:

how did you clean it? did you took it out the whole part? or you just put
the cleanning liquid?

ghostlyrich says:

Great stuff and good luck

ghostlyrich says:

Well you would be able to disassemble and clean it better yes but i find
just just a toothbrush and a rag does the trick for cleaning the plate

spacecalander says:

I had surging issue at low speeds after drilling holes in the bottom
portion of the air box, the rpm’s would float up and down a few seconds
before returning to idle, so i got some throttle body cleaner and mass
airflow meter cleaner and i hope that corrects it. Nice post.

ghostlyrich says:

Yes thats the same issue. Make sure you check your your air filter to

Niko Prieto says:

Awesome video. I see that there is whining/buzzing noise while you are
recording this video. It happens that I have the same noise in my Mazda 3
2010. It seems it’s coming from the throttle body, but more from the
electrical side. Any ideas on what it is???? Thank you

ghostlyrich says:

Sorry i don’t just figured it was normal with the electric throttle body
motor

ghostlyrich says:

wasn’t to much under 50$ i cant remember the cost completely

charbeck516 says:

Wow. Thanks for posting this man, the dealer is crazy expensive for this!

brux46 says:

Great Video! But for me the easiest way to clean your throttle body is by
only removing the intake hose connected to the throttle body itself. Then
undo the x4 clips for the air filter cover and sensor clip. Just move it
aside. Way easier then trying to remove the other 2 hose intakes.

ghostlyrich says:

Used a tooth brush and rag

Josh Dempey says:

hey i got a 04 mazda rx8 wanted to clean my throttle body i was wondering
if it would be the same

Mohanad Fouda says:

hey man, I cleaned my throttle on an 04 3.2L today and then noticed that
the rpm would be around 1.5 when it’s on neutral while its moving, and as
soon as i come to a complete stop it would take 3-4 seconds and the rpm
would drop to .9 where it should normally be. Do you know if that’s normal
and will take a couple of weeks for the computer to get used to it or is
the throttle ruined? Sorry for the long paragraph 🙂

KunHan Shen says:

I am wondering do I have to start the engine then I can open the blade or
just turn on the key but not start the engine?

ghostlyrich says:

Thanks for advice

ghostlyrich says:

Nope it was just a little rough on low rpms so i cleaned it.

ianjunk says:

Hi, quick question. I think I had the same issue (had to replace the
battery on my 2005 S), and started having a funky idle issue almost to the
point of stalling out right afterwards. Never had this issue before. No
problems while driving, though. Is this similar to your issue? Thanks for
the video. I found a written procedure online but it’s always valuable to
have a visual aid like this. Thanks!

ghostlyrich says:

Use a stick or extendable pull to jam the car in full throttle

Harry C says:

I have the exact same problem.. mine is a 2005. just wondering is it
possible to do this by myself? do I need to unhook any line or disconnect
the battery terminals to clean the throttle body? (given that I have no
plan to remove the whole thing to clean it) and how do you open the
butterfly plate so it flips open like in your video? do you do that with
the key at the on position? sorry.. I am such a novice on this sort of
stuff..

chaparralwebdesign says:

awesome video, going to try tonight (actually on mazda 5, but same layout).
BTW, the resetting of throttle is such a huge deal, yet so easy. drove me
insane for like 3 days, you have to do it anytime you do major
electric/battery/alternator stuff too

Mike D says:

Im curious… what was the cost to flash your ECU??

ghostlyrich says:

Hmm its a rotery engine right? Throttle body should clean the same yes
tooth brush and throttle body cleaner and a cloth. The only thing that
might change a little is disassembly.

Brandon Roe says:

I couldn’t find a Mazda video on it until now, I’m so happy I don’t have to
take it out… Thank you!

ghostlyrich says:

try resetting it like i show in the vid and see if it helps

jolopez990 says:

was your check engine light on? What error code was it giving you? I’m
having sort of the same problems but just want to make sure. Thanks in
advance

spacecalander says:

Also the throttle body is drive by wire, no cable.

Dave Pakenham says:

Great thanks, I’m trying this on the car tomorrow, hope this solves that
idle issue

ghostlyrich says:

just turn the key to acc don’t start
